Hey to all of you who feed the hpw diet. I'm changing my gliders diet to it and I was wondering if it's a good diet. Do most of them eat it well? and do i need to add a calcium supplement or anything to it?

My 2 girls just love the stuff!!! I serve the correct serving split in 2 different locations, some in cage mount bird feeder and the rest in a bowl in their kitchen with a separate dish of f/v. I have been told there is no other supplement or extra protein source needed. I do throw in a frew pellets they love, scattered in their toys so they can forage for treats , and about every other day I spoon feed them some blended fruit yogurt (no aspartame) for a little bonding treat.
I use the Original HPW diet. I purchased the HPW kit made by exotic nutrition from website Sugar Glider Super Store, it's the correct amount High Protein Wombaroo powder mixed with correct amount of Australian bee pollen i powdered form. I just follow directions on package, the only other ingredients added is bottled water (2 cups), honey (1 1/2 cups), I get a 32oz from Walmart, & 3 scrambled eggs. I pour into lrg, freezer safe container, it freezes like ice cream and it's easy to just scoop out the servings suggested per glider.
I understand there are a few varieties of this diet, some contain the High Protein Wombaroo, and some don't. I believe there is 1 or 2 varieties that is just mixed with water, and 2 other's that need water, honey, Egg, & bee pollen.

Hopefully my girls will like it too. I didn't think i needed to add anything i just wanted another opinion. Thank you very much:) And i was wondering if it makes a big difference using Australian bee pollen with that recipe vs. American bee pollen?

I would think the Australian is better because it comes from their natural habitat and my contain different things than the American. I bought the American only because they were sold out of the Australian. As soon as I run out I will definitely buy the Australian. I bought a year supply so it won't be anytime soon lol. :)

In the Original recipe, it says to use either, the Australian just happens to be what it is in the kit I use.

I noticed a change in my little girls coat and colors on the HPW original she is beautiful. I wouldn't suggest using darker honey (like buckwheat) when I did that she turned from grey and white to brown and yellow. You live and learn. Now I just stick with the clover honey purchased at any grocery store. If you buy the small bear shaped bottels of honey it will take approx 2 bears per batch.
It is my understanding that we still have to monitor their calcium so I make sure to feed something like papaya and bok chow during the week since they are high in calcium. Also I have been advised that you need to monitor the protein (not too many mealies) since it is a high protein diet.
Good luck mine seem to enjoy it.

Meal worms are not really very high in protein - they are high in fat. Many people recommend limiting meal worms if you glider is on the 'fluffy' side.
The HPW Diets have a moderate amount of protein - enough to meet your gliders' needs - but have much less protein than some other diets.
