I built a glider kitchen last night FINALLY! Lol I looks great and is easy to access but this morning there was still a lot of food left in their bowels. When I put it in their cage last night I made sure both knew what it was and that there was food in it by placing them both one at a time in the kitchen. They seemed to take to it fine but when I got up this morning there's more than usual amount of food left in their bowels. Usually there is only a small amount. Could they just not be used to it so where freaked out by it? Has anyone had this happen when they first started using a kitchen. I will try to post pics later, it won't let me on my cell phone.

It will probably take a night or two but I'm sure they'll get used to it soon.

I just started my girls in a kitchen right away when I got them. They'er around 1 year old, and I just got them Feb 28th. I put their food dishes in one and sat it on the floor, they went right in and never had any trouble adjusting to it. Also, the previous owner told me they wouldn't drink from a water bottle. I picked one up the day I got them to try it out, just added a little bit of gatorade to the bottled water and they drank just fine from the bottle, now just water. But, hey, I have 2 little piglet girls, and they have nooo problem when it comes to food, haha. They are so chunky, they were on a diet of cooked chicken, cooked eggs, yogurt, mealies, and fruit & veggies. I switched them to pellets and fruit (all the diet debates were so confusing) until I found photos of how fluffy and healthy the gliders looked on here, and mine weren't, so I switched diet to HPW original w/f&v, a little yogurt on a spoon about every other day and a few pellets scattered as foraging treats, because they love them so and they won't spoil. I go on, I'm sorry.

Your kitchen looks nice, I'm sure they'll find their food just fine when they're hungry.

Well I am a worrier as everyone has probably already learned from previous posts ;-) lol. I added the shelf and places the kitchen next to it with the hole facing it. I feared they wouldn't be able to climb in it because they can't grip plastic with nails and I didn't want them falling and hurting themselves. I have seen everyone else doesn't have a meeting shelf so I don't know.. I know they know how to get in it, I just watched my little girl climb in grab a bite and scamper out so I know they know where the food is, I wonder if it could be the enclosed space? I don't know I guess we see how tonight goes.

Well glad they can get in ok, maybe they'll get used to dining inside as well. I hope they do, it's a fine looking kitchen, and I know it feels good when they like what we make them.

I had the same problem but I got kitchens from Sarah's suggie shop and they have an entry hole at each end. They are meant to hang but I put them on the bottom of the cage. No problems since even from my glider that seems scared and stressed of his own shadow.

I have the same one & I noticed it swung so I put another chain/hook coming out the side & connecting to the side of the cage. I think your gliders willbe fine, just wanted to give the idea ;) if you like I'll try to post pix tonight.

They are doin great with it now! My little girl knows when I put the food in at night and she will be sitting on top of it waiting. I think they like it now and I'm loving the less mess. But my male does like to grab a piece of fruit and take off out of the kitchen and down to his favorite spot in the cage so we still have some messes lol
