I just read their unsafe toy list and jingle balls are on it, I thought my girls habitat was safe, but now I have to take their jingle balls away. I'll be looking for something else to go in ball basket and wodent wheel. Guess for now just some fleece.

Now I'm worried that the new basket swing toy may be unsafe because it has holes in it.

I made another one that's in there now, and I already switched out the small chain link to the larger c-links. I have fleece weaved through the holes to help make it cushier, but do you think these holes in the baskets are dangerous for the gliders?

Plenty of people make very safe toys from the items pictured above. You don't need to switch out the chain or the basket.

Be sure that you read the dates of posts made, as we are always learning more and more about safety with gliders. ALL items have the potential to be dangerous if not inspected regularly.

Common sense dictates that if they can't get caught in the holes (size wise) then it is safe. If you have joeys, then you don't want to use that type of basket. With adult gliders it is fine.
We don't use jingle bells because nails can and do get caught in them.

Thanks, from me, and deepest gratitude from my girls, who love their tree basket swing dearly.

Is your screen name the same on GC?
Mine is RayGirl, because when I signed up for GC, I put my name in the wrong place. It was the first forum of any kind I'd signed up for, and I didn't realize it at the time. I wanted it to be MamaBird on there too, but messed it up! :)

There is nothing wrong with being apart of different glider forums. Many on GG are on differnt forums, and some just like to be apart of one forum, it's all up too the person. Like me I am apart of GG and SGAA. I also have to agree I think your toy looks good!:D

TJ you are not a traitor to belong to more than one forum. You toy looks very safe. The baskets are often used without the fleece woven through them and no one seems to have had any problems with them yet.

I am a member there as well, under the same name :)

I don't think you should be worried about your toy. Anything is potentially dangerous when you think about it--so unless you see something really wrong, just let them enjoy it and enjoy making it!

Thanks again everyone, I'm so glad to hear the baskets are safe. I took the jingle balls out as soon as I read of the safety hazard. I had bought some very small plastic Easter eggs, but then when I opened the package I noticed they had hinges, and I was afraid they could get scratched or cut and never put them in. I'll try to post a close up and see what you all think.

They actually feel kind of rough, I had tried cutting hinges off, but it seemed that made edges sharper. I may try to see if I can sand down to a smoother edge.

Wow, I sanded them down with a nail file, they seem a lot smother now. I'll go get them washed and my girls will have a safe "egg bin" Yay
