I'm trying to pick a diet for my sugar gliders so I will be prepared before they get here. I'm debating between LGRS and SunCoast. I'm getting my gliders from SunCoast so they will already be on that diet, but I was looking at the ingredients and the Ca:Ph was terrible! I can also buy the LGRS ingredients in town and would have to order the SunCoast pellets. Any opinions? Suggestions?

the SunCoast diet does include RepCal Calcium and Vionate (vitamins) as part of the total feeding plan which balances the calcium your glider needs. The Chicken and Brown Rice Pellets are only a PART of the SunCoast diet - you will also be feeding a protein (chicken, egg or insects) each night, fruits and vegetables.

The soup is also only a PART of the LGRS feeding plan. Ed has posted a list of additional protein foods, fruits and vegetables he feeds along with it each night.

If you would like to consider other feeding plans, I have links to the original instructions for a number of the recognized glider diets on my web page to help you choose a diet for your gliders.

I use suggie soup and i highly recommend it. you can call ed(the creator of the diet) if you would like to talk to him more about the diet. www.luckyglider.org/luckyglider_005.htm
www.veglidergear.com/ VE sells sample packs of suggie soup and VGV diet so if your gliders dont like it for some reason your not left with a bunch of stuff you wont use. ^_^

I also feed LGRS but used to feed Suncoast once upon a time. It isn't a horrible diet by any means. I just personally feel LGRS is healthier and I only base that on my own opinion after reading the research that went into Ed's. My vet is also on board so that's another plus for me.

We started our first few gliders off on the Suncoast diet and eventually switched to Original HPW and I am seeing some more picky eaters eating less of the HPW so I am looking to try the LGRS since I have been ready so much about it and figured that I would try it and see how the furkids did with it.

I realize that both are only staple foods that must include fruits, veggies, and protein to be well rounded. It just seemed to me that the staple food should be well-rounded, as well.

No experience with LGRS but the suncoast diet did not do well with the gliders I rescued. They are on candy's diet and love it.

Couldn't have said it better myself, I happen to be a little bit more than partial to LGRS though. In any case I would try a nectar replacement staple before I would feed a completely pre-packaged staple.

My suggies love their LGRS soup. It is very easy to make in the blender and lasts for three months. (for two gliders). Their coats have improved a lot since I put them on it five months ago. I also like that it is easy to scoop out being that it doesn't freeze hard, it's more ice-cream consistency.
