Can there be too many options for sleeping place in cage? My girls had a hammock, tunnel (set from PP), and a stuffed tree house, and a pouch (on & off). They favored the hammock:


Then I made the tunnel pouch, which they instantly vacated the hammock for and it became their new fav, they didn't use the hammock after.


So I made a new hammock (no-sew) and have repositioned the PP hammock in a long position, but am considering making it a shelf. They seem to have no interest in either of the hammocks now. Last Saturday I went to my sisters to make a back-up tunnel pouch and 2 regular sleep pouches and I swapped out tunnel pouches for washing, they took to the new tunnel pouch just fine, but yesterday am I hung up one of the regular sleep pouches and they went in to check it out and now it appears to be their new fav sleep spot. Will they ever change back to hammock or tunnel pouch? Should I take out anything, maybe it's too much going on in there. (I like the way it looks and they have several types of rest, sleep, and hide-aways to play in. But I was wondering if I should take out 1 or 2 of them and alternate them back in swapping them back for 1 0r 2 of the others left behind, and if that's a good thing to do or not. I feel like I shouldn't mess with their security, but I understand they get bored, is that only with toys?

My babies just prefer to sleep in the smelliest pouch in the cage. Soon as I remove the one they sleep in they move to another one and wont touch the freshly washed one until its the one that been in there the longest.

I think youll be fine leaving the options in there. I have a ballpit, pouch, cocunut owl,and comb and I have found my babies sleeping in each one on different day. Sometime they'll be in the ballpit for a few days, then they'll change it up and move to the pouch. Gliders love variety so your babies will be fine with all those options and probably really appreciate it.

I keep LOTS of options in mine. Always have. They still always tend to migrate to the same one...together. Edited to add, now that I see the photo, I do have more in there than in the photo. Oops!

I always keep the same number of different sleeping options as there are gliders in the cage - the exception is my large colonies. For colonies of 5 or more, I put only 5 sleeping spaces in.
I only occasionally find them sleeping separate, but it does happen from time to time in almost all of my cages.

I try to offer a wide variety - sleeping pouches, play & stay logs, play & stay hollows, sleeping cubes, sugar combs, monkey cliners, etc.... Without fail, if the option is presented, they all choose to sleep in one of my sleeping cubes. If it is not an option, though, then they will migrate from place to place to sleep, sometimes choosing one for naps during the night and a different for their lengthy day-time sleep.

Thanks everyone, my girls are funny because they went for the newest additions 2 separate times and made it their fav, with the exception of the new no-sew hammock. It makes me happy because with the new fleece items that were placed in there: tunnel pouch, hammock and then the regular pouch, all had my husband's and mine scent on it. After washing new fleece material I placed it in our dirty clothes hamper for over 48 hrs, and they seemed to not mind taking it right over accept as mentioned with the new hammock. I did add a little blankie with their scent into the tunnel pouch the first time I put it in, but the other items had our scent to some degree on them when put in. I do like the way their cage looks and I knew they enjoyed variety, but I didn't want to over do it, so I'm so grateful for the reassurance I'm doing it ok.

Is it ok to leave the same or is it best to move items around into different locations in habitat?
