Hi everyone! I am coming here again to ask for advice on a problem I've been thinking a lot about lately.

At the beginning of next month, I will be making the move from Huntington, WV to Portland, OR (2500 miles). I plan on it taking three or four days, and I am driving with our things ourselves. That, of course, includes my two sugar gliders and my rabbit (who I already have a travel cage for).

I have been having trouble finding information on what is the best way to travel with sugar gliders. I believe I read something about travel cages, but couldn't find any examples. I am planning to stay in pet-friendly hotels, so the only problem I have is making sure they are all comfortable and hydrated throughout the day.

Any help would be appreciated!

Hi Caila :) Traveling with gliders is actually quite simple! You'll want to have a travel cage of some sort for in the car. I just use a small dog carrier in the car that gets strapped into the backseat. As far as staying in hotels, if your gliders aren't chewers, you can use a pop up dog kennel from Wal-Mart www.walmart.com/ip/SportPet-Pop-Open-Kennel-Large-Cats-Dogs-Small-Animals/5192528. You can also make a pvc frame for the inside to hang their pouch. When I used these, I also used the 1 ft. cargo nets for the top of the pvc frame to hang toys and feeding dishes.

What I use now is a Glide-Arium - they are absolutely FANTASTIC! glidernursery.webs.com/glideariums.htm. I have several gliders so I have the 175 gallon and they love it! The frame comes apart and can be stored in a duffle bag and the cover folds up very small so it makes traveling with it excellent.

Travel cages are just a smaller cage you use for travel. :)

Apple is commonly used for them in situations like this. Just put a piece or two in the travel cage.

And that's a long drive! We did IN to ID in 2 days. And that was PUSHING it.
