I've noticed that since I've been using HPW, Rue has really smelly urine. Did this happen to anyone else?

Are you feeding HPW Original, Plus or Complete? The first diet I ever fed was HPW Original and for a short time, I fed HPW Complete. I didn't have this issue with either of them. Do you see any changes in behavior with your little one? Peeing the pouch? Straining to go potty? Are you able to see the color of the urine? What fruits and veggies have they had in the last couple of days? Often, smelly urine signals a UTI. When did he/she last have a vet visit? You may want to get in for a UA.

What DC said is very good advice. Your Rue is pretty young, right? Could very well just be the growin' up thing. Watch Rue for signs of a UTI. I haven't heard anything about smelly pee being associated with any of the HPWs.

I feed HPW Instant. Last night he had HPW, blackberries, apples, green peppers, watermelon, and cantaloupe.
Could it be the watermelon? The weird pee started yesterday and that was the first day I've fed him watermelon.

We have watermelon often here and have never had issues with smelly pee. In fact, we don't ever have it so I'd really watch closely and would probably have a UA done just for good measure.

I feed hpw original and one of my males smells so bad he is about to run us all out of the house. I had a UA done on him just to make sure he was ok and it came back clear. I have never tried him on a sdifferent diet but all my gliders eat the hpw and none of the others smell really bad.
If you figure it out please let me know. I am about to have my little guy neutered because of his horrible smell.

Connie - much of the smell would be because he's not neutered, he's probably marking more than peeing and that's what you're smelling. There is a distinguishable smell between intact and neutered boys.
That said, when they did the UA, did they also do a culture on the urine? Keep in mind that if an infection is further up, the regular UA doesn't always catch it. Or, it could be something like a bladder infection rather than a UTI. Just a thought.

A bladder infection is just specifics about where the UTI is located. A UTI can be a kidney infection or a bladder infection or anywhere else in your urinary tract.
Maybe Rue just has some male stank going on. I didn't start noticing this until I fed the HPW though. Actually, it happened the very day that I started feeding HPW Instant.

I just let Rue out a minute ago. I let him pee on me (the things we do for our babies, LOL) His pee was a normal amount and wasn't as strong smelling as the last couple days, but still had a funky odor. I'm beginning to think it's his boy stank. xD
I'm still watching, and if anything changes, to the vet it is! He doesn't have crystals or blood in his urine. He isn't straining to pee or poop or appear to be in any pain.

So he isn't urinating more? My vet told me if they urinated more, it meant more than likely a UTI. Of course take him for a visit and test. Ours will have smelly/strong urine if we don't feed enough protein. Not saying that is your deal because yours could have a UTI. Oh, and our boys are neutered so it isn't that.

Nope, he hasn't been urinating more. Just the same normal amount of pee.
