TJones09 Goofy Gorillatoes 3524 Posts I use pellets (my gliders LOVE!!!) as foraging treats. I scatter them about in different hides & toys, and know they will find them. I make sure they have their adequate diet (I use Original HPW w/f&v) in the evening and have begun to eat it before I place the pellets about, usually I do it right before I go to bed or in the am after play times. Typically it's like this, I put their main meal in, when they wake up they begin to eat, run around a little, go potty. Then I &/or my husband let them out for some play time (usually in the same room w/cage), letting them jump from us to chairs and so forth (very supervised). Then they go back to cage, eat some more and before I go to bed for the night, that's when I'll drop some around, &/or occasionally the next morning after am playtime, when they still act hungry and the "wambaroo" and most of their f/v are gone. Just a suggestion for use of pellets if your gliders really like them. Mine love theirs and I like using them better than cheerios and yogurt drops, however I do give them fruit blended yogurt (no aspartame) on a spoon for a licky treat a few days a week. TJones09 Goofy Gorillatoes 3524 Posts Ok, I agree that the gliders don't need pellets, but equivalent of potato chips, really? They do contain some nutrients, sure maybe not large amounts, but they are no worse than cheerios, and btw I have read the ingredients of yogurt drops and also came across this (sorry I can't link, doing copy & paste) www.glidercentral.net/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/topics/1229983/Healthy_Yogurt_Drops
So why not say feeding gliders yogurt drops is probably equivalent to pop tarts, maybe actually worse. I forgot about mealworms, other than protein, they have no nutritional value and are fattening, not the healthiest treat source either. So you really can't say pellets are not good to use for treats while advocating all the other "treats" mentioned. If Cfields1205 Glider 90 Posts I use Happy Glider & put it in a Hanging cup at the top of their cage. They LOVE it. They come & snack throughout the day & if they eat all their food at night they will eat some. It lasts forever too because you don't have to change it everyday. Due to it being high in the cage near the top they can't pee or poo on it either.
