My sugar gliders are doing very well on a recipe that a friend gave me. I don't remember the exact ingredients but this is what it includes: apple juice, strawberry sugar free yogurt, 2 jar of chicken & broth baby food, pasteurized honey, wheat germ, mixed fruit pablum, egg, calcium and vitamins for reptiles.

What I would like to know is do I need a variety of mixes, or will this one do for good? I also give them a variety of fruits and vegetables, meal worms, and other healthy goodies. So they don't live on only the mix.

Here is the link to BML and the feeding instructions http://www.angelfire.com/nb/sugargliders/bml/leadbeat.html

I feed HPW so I'm not sure if your feeding the actual BML or not. But I do know that the list of fruits and veggies are fairly strict for this diet.

GIGI - interesting someone else just asked about the SAME recipe so I will copy my reply.

<b>Do not use the sugar free yogurt. Most diet or sugar free yogurts contain artificial sweeteners like aspartame or splenda that are not recommended for gliders.</b>

The combination of ingredients you listed does not match any of the diets most folks use. I think it is similar to my recipes, but my staple recipes do use Wombaroo High Protein Supplement and bee pollen. My recipes are on my web page if you want to look. www.gliderkids.com/BLENDED-GLIDER-DIET.html

You do not need a 'variety' of staple mixes but sometimes folks try several to determine which their gliders like best or to decide which they prefer to make for their gliders.

It often takes gliders several days to get used to a new staple mixture, so switching frequently is not usually the best choice.

If I shouldn't use the sugar free yogurt do I get the yogurt with sugar or not use yogurt at all?

You can use yogurt, just make sure it doesn't have artificial sweeteners and is low fat. Anything that says "Diet" or "Light" probably contains sweeteners, go for natural yogurt with no artificial sweeteners. Read the labels very carefully.

I use plain yogurt in my staple mix. You are combining it with honey and juices which sweeten the whole mixture anyway.

You can use the yogurts with added fruit and even the sweetened ones, but avoid the artificial sweeteners.
