I'm not sure if pre-wrap is what you're looking for as I'm unsure if it is self adhesive.... But I've never used it so it may be the same thing.

yeah pre-wrap is the same thing as athletic tape, like the link you gave. It sometimes comes in first aid kits. It is usually nude colored in first aid kits.

Omg. I can't get it on him. Every second I'm not like pinning him down heroes to pick at it too :( . I just want to take a shower :(.. I guess the good news is he will sleep all night so I won't have to worry then, right? :/

I had him sit there nicely while handing him treats and I didn't wrap it tight enough that time. He won't sit still again -_-

I tried to tell ya...dee yoo see tee tape. Duct tape. But seriously these are wiggly little buggers so don't give up! (Hence my Riggley's name: Riggley = wiggly, southern fried!)

I wouldn't think the athletic tape would stick to his glue but I am as far from an expert as you can get! So take any advice I give with a big chunk of salt!

Is the wrap you used first the stuff they put under a cast? The pre-wrap/athletic tape is wrinkled fabric feeling stuff. Not plasticy foamy feeling at all.

I used the foam feeling kind. It's self adhesive but not really. Jazzs mom posted the link with the wrinkled stuff that's very self adhesive. Gunna try that next. This is awfully frustrating :(.

Yeah, the link that J&Z's mom gave is what you should use. That other stuff is for (the birds) protection from casts rubbing.

I'm sure it is frustrating but keep at it. Y'all will either figure it out, or wear him out! Either way he's not picking at himself! Always a silver lining!

Ok. I lose. My stuff wasn't stickey enough. Gunna buy something like it but new. Mine was really old so I guess it lost some stickiness. I would have had him in it twice If it stuck better -_-.

Did you call Val? She could give you info regarding what you are going through.

I was told when getting Jax neutered that if they used glue it might be a good idea to have them put a little on other parts of his body too. That lets the glider focuses on those spots since they tend to want the glue off. Maybe put a little honey on his shoulder to give him something else to clean? Not sure if it would help or not?

Thanks but I can't take credit, it was a recommendation since Jax is an over groomer and I was worried about SM. I was told that some licking of the glue is to be expected and distraction is best. I was also advised that if you can distract them then it probably isn't SM just grooming.

Good luck!

Skyler may have been the culprit originally :( . He was in the cage for a second (exhausted since he was up most of the day) and as soon as she noticed he was in the cage again she ran up to him and within seconds was picking at it!

Prewrap lasted the whole time that he slept.. Then he got out of it within seconds of trying to get it off ... -_-

I give up. I'm just Gunna wake up all night long. Ugh.

I hate it, but if she is the one picking at it, I would keep them separate tonight. That's just me, I am no pro and someone else might tell you different but I am all about eliminating/lowering risk.

I know this sounds weird but I think they both learned that I didn't want them picking at it (I have been awefully persistent) lol.i don't have a spare cage that they can stay in :/. They did sleep separate on their own, but that because I kept removing skyler from where ziggy was sleeping I think :) .. He either barked or crabbed or hissed at her every time she was picking at it and I was sleeping lightly, so I'd like to think I stopped it all and ziggy didn't want her to do that.

You had to see when I put the bonding pouch with ziggy in the cage though.. Skyler went right too him as I said before, but after I took her out a dozen times she settled for sleeping right under the bonding pouch so she was still close to her brother. It was really cute.

And rukyia, I woulda duct taped him to me already if that wasn't animal cruelty! :D haha I'm going to keep ziggy on me all day so I can keep an eye. Hopefully he stays up a lot of the day again (is that being cruel??) because he definitely slept most of the night ;).

Something you will want to do is to get a second cage or at least an emergency cage. My Gizmo after his Neuter SM. After a week in the e-collar with his cage mates one of them re-opened the incision site causing me to go to an e-vet at 12am. I had to keep Gizmo separate from his two buddies for about 30 days to ensure the incision site was 100% healed, and he would leave it alone after it was healed. Once he was back in with his brothers I watched them like a hawk to ensure NO ONE re-opened the healed incision site.

Having an emergency/travel cage will help and is needed should there ever be an emergency. Also having an extra full size cage works great should there be an emergency and you -must- separate but don't want to place one in a super small cage for over a week. Craigslist is good for used cages.

I hope things are better now and good luck. :} It isn't an easy thing to go through. I would really like to see a picture of the incision site. Hope all is well today.

Ok.. I will try to construct a travel cage then.. I was thinking about just buying one of those cheap mesh pop up hampers and sorta ringing something to stay on top.. Maybe using a second hamper for the top closure..

Is that a bad idea? That's something I can probably run to the dollar store for and have ready in like 15mins lol

I got a cage from PetSmart / PetCo. Just a simple small bird cage for their travel cage. It works when I need it. I am able to put food and a water bottle in it so if they are going to be away from their main cage for a night they will at least have food/water.

I don't have room to store another metal cage after I'm done using it. And I don't want to spend up the little money I have left (these guys cost muchhh more than expected) so I have money should I need to go to the vet once again, you know?
