We recently adopted a pair of sugar gliders from someone who could no longer keep them. When we got them, mom had 2 babies in her pouch. They have come out recently, and one looks like everything I've seen on the Internet. The other, however, is hairless. He is completely pink with no hair whatsoever. Is he dead or is this normal?

Has the joey detached from the nipple, or does mom just have him hanging out of her pouch for grooming. It is possible for two joeys in pouch to be different ages (different stages of development) so the pink joey just may not be mature enough to be OOP.

If the joey is not detached, do not try to handle it, let mom tuck it back in her pouch to grow a bit longer until it is really ready to be OOP.

Im sorry, but as soon as I go to take a picture, she tucks them into her pouch. Even though limbs and tails are hanging out. Ha-ha

The one with hair is certainly detached. He followed momma into the bonding pouch by himself. The other stays in her pouch more, but is out occasionally. She seems to be really good at tucking them back in as we go to look at them.

Maybe it's hair is just coming in, and is a light color, not the usual grey?

Agree with Candy...sounds like you have 2 joeys that are different ages, the haired one is OOP and the non-haired one probably isnt actually OOPed and should OOP when he/she is of OOPing age
