I just got them 3 weeks ago. Found out she was pregnant. Her joey came oop last night. I was in shock because I've never seen something so small in my life! Haha we're still working in bonding with mom an dad. Now, questions.

Do I continue tent time?
When do I start to hold the joey?
I've only seen the joey oop once and the rest it's in moms pouch. Is that ok?
When to figure out sex
When to neuter if its a boy
Should I put their pouch on the bottom of the cage?
Any diet requirements for momma? I raised her protein a bit on bml currently.
Moms not eating much. I hand feed her a little bit of fruits and turkey.

Any addition tips? They're being great parents! Apparently it's not their first. Dad is already neutered so don't worry! Mom and dad are rescues and don't have lineage. So baby doesn't either right?

Go to www.suzsugargliders.com and look under Educational Articles, then Breeding. There's tons of info on Suz's site and all of it is super helpful!! Congrats on your new baby!! Good luck!

This is a great site and very helpful!!!!
Depending on the vet ..... Mine will not neuter until the males are 16weeks old....
Try not to change too much it should be ok to continue tent time and if mom is bonded to you....you can pet Joey without her rejecting him. Don't add anything to the diet....just offer a litter more....
You should be able to tell if its male or female as soon as your able to get a good look underneath.

;) congrats!!!!

Thanks. We decided to keep it. We don't want to separate the family. And I honestly have no clue if mom is bonded to me. I just got her 3 weeks ago and the previous "owner" I use that term loosely. Said she's never rejected a joey. But that doesn't she won't. This is my first so I'm so nervous.

From Live Laugh Love Sugar Glider website:

This joey handling timetable and joey growth chart have both been requested many times over the years so it's time they are made available:

Timetable of Handling Joeys
Day 1-7 Just long enough to take a couple of pictures
Day 8-14 About 5-10 minutes
Day 15-21 About 10-15 minutes
Day 22-28 Up to a half hour
Day 29-35 Up to an hour
Day 36-42 Up to 2 hours
Day 43-49 Up to 4 hours
Day 50-56 Up to 6 hours
After 8-week oop mark, as long as you want to handle your joeys

Joey Weight Growth Chart
1 week OOP 12-22g
2 weeks OOP 16-26g
3 weeks OOP 17-27g
4 weeks OOP 23-33g
5 weeks OOP 30-40g
6 weeks OOP 35-45g
7 weeks OOP 40-50g
8 weeks OOP 45-60g
These weights given are average so do not be alarmed if your joey's weight is less or more than what the chart shows. As long as your joey is eating and drinking, the joey is fine.

It took me a long time to find a vet who would neuter before 6 months. I finally found one and he did a great job with Sheldon at 16 weeks. It was expensive though - $291.00!!!

I can't wait to see pictures when you are able to take some!!
