I have two female suggies. I have only had them about a month but they are doing great! I just want to make sure I am feeding them the right way so that they stay that way. There staple food (pellets ) is Exotic Nutrition Sugar Glider Complete. It is pellets plus dried fruits. Is this ok? I bought one of those mixed fruit bowls in the produce section with sliced mango, honeydew, and cantaloupe. Then I got fresh strawberries, blueberries and baby carrots. I also have frozen collards and turnips. I sliced the berries, melons and carrots into small pieces and froze them in a freezer bag. I also buy those little packs of sliced apples that have yogurt at the end to dip it in. I use the yogurt as a treat as it is plain. I will alternate. I feed them just apple slices sprinkled with vitamins one night. Then the next night I take out 1/2 cup of the fruit I froze and the frozen greens thaw it then give sprinkled with vitamins. I make sure I give a few pieces of each item I bought. I just mix in one bowl all together. Does this sound like a good feeding plan? Am I giving them enough for two gliders? If not how much should I give? Are the foods I am giving good enough for them? I want to make sure I keep them good and healthy! I also feed them a few crickets and mealworms every day. If there is anything I should do different or am not doing I should be doing let me know.

Unfortunately your diet is not balance, you need one that includes a proper protein staple. Pellets are not adequate and should not be used as a main staple. If you go to the gliderpedia section, you can look through some popular diet recipes and find one that works for you. A glider's diet should consist of 50% protein, 25% veggies, and 25% fruit.

Sprinkling vitamins on food is also not recommended, it is much to easy to overdose them this way, which is another reason you will want to get on a specific plan. That way you will know all of the nutrition they need is provided, without having to guess. In the mean time, begin offering them some boiled chicken or plain scrambled or boiled eggs (with no seasoning) for their protein source along with the fruits and veggies.

I made the same mistake the first month that I had my girls with giving them pellet food, I soon realized from reading things on this site that pellet food is not good for them at all. I'd suggest looking at resources and nutrition to get them on a better diet. Mine are on the BML diet and love it, it made the biggest difference in their fur and their energy levels.
