It seems that I will be taking in 2 females (about 1 yr) that are in need of a good home. Their family is moving to Texas and unfortunately cannot take them with. I will have 6 gliders in total! Seems like so many haha..don't worry i will do proper quarantine/vet checks and intros like i did with my other female.
I just want to find a bigger cage when i eventually put them all together. Does anyone else have 6 gliders and have them all in one cage? If they need to be separate that's not a huge deal (just in case they dont get along), but it would be great if they could be in 1 cage.
Apparently these girls are a bit grouchy, since they dont get much attention. Looks like i have a long road of bonding ahead of me haha. Also, they are currently on the BML diet but i plan to switch them to OHPW, how do i go about doing this? Has anyone else switched with no problems?
Any advice/opinions are greatly appreciated!!

Well I have 5 with 2 on the way. Currently the 5 are housed in 3 linked cages & I'm hoping when the time comes they will welcome the twins, if so, I will have 7 in these cages.
I know they used to sell my middle cage (in the photo) in a 30 in. deep model but it won't fit thru most standard doorways for outside washing. (that's why I got the 18 in. deep one) IMO, 5 gliders in one of the cages I have is pushing it...if you could get a large Hexagon or the 30 x 30 (again, both too large to fit thru a doorway) it would be fine for 6 gliders.
Or you could do as I did and link 2 large cages together to give them plenty of space.

Yea i was thinking of doing that. I'm pretty much waiting for the cage to come back in stock. Its like the only one i can find that's pretty cheap but big at the same time. I was looking into the hexagonal ones but the doors look too small to fit a stealth wheel

Yeah, I fell in love with this cage when I first got mine but it was out of stock...that was July 2011 and as you know, it just came back in stock a little over a month ago...I snatched 2 up right away. So I totally understand your frustration at having to wait until they come back in stock.
I did end up getting the Hexagon, but as you said, I couldn't get a wheel in thru the doors...it had to be fed in thru the bottom which is a pain. It was big and roomy but again, it doesn't fit thru a doorway and it was so wide I couldn't reach all the way across to clean it and all the doors were fitted on ONE side of the cage... PAIN IN THE BUTT!
I then went on the hunt for a new cage and that's when I got my first EXEL. I love it altho I am seeing a bit of surface rust beginning...but I paid about $260 for it! Bought the 2nd one and thought I was getting a great deal cuz it was about $30 cheaper...which is all well and good but when you come across these new ones that we've been scooping up and you can get 2 for less than the price of one EXEL cage.... now that's a deal!
I sure hope they come back in stock fairly quickly so you can grab you one or two.

Well with the cage i have now, the wheel needs to be put in from the bottom. So im used to doing that. But if i cant clean it then no point in getting it!! Im a pretty small person so i need to be able to get in there and clean. I've searched for excel tower cages but i always get limited to no results. I was thinking of buying another 1 of the cage i already have and linking them, but they are really wide cages and would take up a lot of space

http://www.ebay.com/itm/XLarge3-Level-Ferret-Chinchilla-S...
I found this on ebay...this IS the center cage in my pic... when I bought it it was advertised as the EXEL, but I did buy it from this same place...rowlandwholesale. Now Terry says they stopped making the EXEL and this one is not advertised as an EXEL.
If memory serves me, THIS is the 2nd cage I bought, BUT when I got it, it is the 1st one in my photo. As you can see, there are slight differences between the photo advertised on EBAY and the cage that I recieved....
The doors are slightly smaller (less tall) but they are plenty big enough. The stand is about 1/2 - 1in. taller making the cage appear slightly taller but it is not. Both cages are the same height and the newer one is about 1/2in. deeper. The casters on the cart are plastic but I prefer that, and the overall cage is better built than my EXEL. Even the carts crossbars are welded where my EXEL only has bars that sit in drilled holes.
I actually think the cage I recieved is sturdier built than my EXEL. Just pointing this out so if you choose to purchase this one, you won't be shocked if you get a slightly different one delivered.

Now this is where I got my 3rd cage. (black & last cage in photo) They are still temp. sold out but maybe if you contact them they can give you a date as to when they will be in stock. This is the one that I grabbed 2 of from this site....I paid a total of $233.98 for both of them with getting s&h free and 10% off with a coupon code. As you can see, I got 2 for less than the price of ONE of my other cages so IMO, that just can't be beat.
But if you just can't wait then maybe the Ebay cage is the way to go if that's not out of your price range.
I hope that helps a bit on your cage quest.

The one I have on the left is an Exel. The one on the right was a bird.com Aviantelligence cage. No idea if they still sell them. I think that was 4 years ago when I put them together.

I have the large A&E Corner Aviary.
I have 5 in there now, but it was 6.
It is a great cage for 6 gliders. They all have plenty of room. But - it is a pain in the rear to clean!

We have 6 with 1 on the way.. right now we have two seperate colonies. We are hoping to put them together sometime in the future. They are already use to eachother but we keep them seperate because one of our trios is a breeding set.
