This morning while playing with my suggies in the bathroom, one of them got to my coffee cup and got in a few gulps before I could pull him away. Normally they don't like the smell of coffee and stay away from the cup, but he must have been feeling extra brave, or extra thirsty, and wanted to try some.
My question is if anyone knows what the effects of this might be. I know coffee is on the "do not feed" list, but is it toxic in small doses like chocolate? Should I be concerned?

Called my vet, he said it should be fine, it's not harmful if ingested in small doses. I'll keep en eye on him tonight when he wakes up.

Might be a really good idea to invest in a covered cup that the gliders can't drink out of. I do think with my iced tea because i don't want any oooops moments.

I would also wonder how much actual coffee he got... I know when I drink coffee, it's closer to a dessert than a cup o' joe! [More cream and sugar, for those missing my jokes] In that case, he might have some not fun poops if you use dairy creamer. Maybe he liked the smell? I use flavored creamer, usually vanilla, which I'm sure some suggies might think to be awesome.

Note to self: Bring no beverages to suggie playtime, or use a covered cup, excellent idea lilangels! Or a bottle of water, lol.
I like to bring my girls to the bathroom in the morning also, but sometimes if I'm not sleeping well, I'll take them in the middle of the night. I have no windows in there anyway, so I bring a battery lantern and keep it on low so I can keep an eye on them, but not too harsh of light for them to play in. Please update when able, curious to see how it goes.

My little guy is doing fine, I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary that next night.
The coffee was black so there was nothing in it that "should" have attracted him to it. From now on I'm definitely going to put my coffee in a covered travel mug before playtime. Luckily it had been out a while so it wasn't super hot or anything.
I think what happened was that a few weeks ago he was sitting on my shoulder as I brought him from his cage to the bathroom for play time, and I was carrying a glass of water. He scampered up my arm to check it out and proceeded to take a sip. I think he knows now that "cups" are places to get a drink of water so when he saw the coffee cup he assumed it had water inside.
These guys are too smart for their own good!
