Ok so I dnt wanna go over all of my history so I'll just get to the point. I have 2 gliders. I havnt braught my female (Roxy) out with me since I got my male (Dj). IDK what made me grab Roxy to let her be with me today uz I was off. So I got her and put her in my shirt. She nipped me, but she has been biting me a lot lately. She didnt really wanna be in my shirt either wich is wierd! I was already running around so I just kept her with me. She was grooming rather rough. So I looked ad she was curled up lickig down there. I looked closer and her pouch was kinda open and it was dark and almost black in there. I left her alone all after that. I got her home and put her up ad her belly was a lil wet.... Did she have babies? If so, WHAT DO I DO NOW??? please if you know what I should do I will appreciate any help I can get!

If she has babies, you can probably see them. Did she look pregnant? I doubt that's something you'd miss. When they give birth, the joey is about the size of a grain of rice. It then makes its way to mom's pouch where it finds a nipple, latches on and grows for about 10 weeks. If her stomach was wet, I suppose it's possible that she gave birth but as far as what you're supposed to do now? Nothing different. Maybe some extra protein at feeding time, but nothing else needs to change.

Sheww! I never looked at her belly uz she dosnt even like my new boy. She always tries to bite him, always hissing at him. He is so sweet so Ihave been keeping them apart, all except for bout 11am when there tired. Then they love each other. I never would have thaught that they ever got a hane. I swear it was a dark brown, hairless and in the pouch. I just didnt know if she was cleaning the pouch if it would open, and if it did is it brown in there ?

Although they wernt pink thats exatly how Roxy was curled up. I think she just had them and mabye there a darker color when there just born. Yes I think she did have babies. Im just worried cuz I had her out with me. Wonder if I stressed her and thats why she bit me

I think that what Roxie is asking is did she just put joeys in pouch. Since there is an intact male in the cage with her, it is a very good possibility and you wouldn't be able to tell by looking for a baby bump yet.

The only photos I've ever seen of gliders actually giving birth, the teeny joeys were really dark pink/reddish.

First step, get DJ neutered like you have said you've been planning to do. If they have been together most mornings chances are high that they've mated and she could be pregnant - its instinct and even if they don't get along in general, their instincts tell them to mate when she is in heat.

If she is in fact pregnant, you need to up her portions of food. Since they aren't getting along, you need to be prepared to help baby sit in several weeks once its out. Get a rejection kit together in case you have to hand feed it.

I don't know any of the history. How long have they been together and why are they together if you didn't want joeys right now?

Yes I will be on the phone with the vet FIRST thing in the morning and he will be fixed. I will keep these babies (if she does have some) and getting everyone fixed. This will just be like one of my own :) That will make 4 wich is fine by me :)

I have had him for 3 months. They have been togther for 2. Not that I wouldnt want babies its just that im moving and concerned about stressing her out.

why do you keep saying have babies? Do you mean she had them and cannibolized them or have had in the past... i dont really know but i wanna know if you mean she has babie in pouch im just confused

yes I think she has babies in her pouch. I think she had (them?) yesterday. I don't know as to what lengths to go to, to make sure. I'm almost 100% sure that's what I saw. I checked on them yesterday about 2 hrs after we got home and DJ was licking her belly and she was laying on her back in my purse. I tried to see anything this morning but I can't see and I didn't know if I should hold her and try to make sure.

No, do not hold her and make sure(you can handle her, but not restrain her or try and look into her pouch). If they just went into pouch yesterday, you would likely knock them off the nipple. In a few weeks, she will have visible lumps if she is indeed pregnant.

From what I've been told, many first time pregnancies don't work out even under the best of circumstances, so you need to be prepared for that. I think the biggest thing working against her isn't the move, its the fact that DJ and Roxy don't generally get along. Hopefully after the neuter, maybe they will so he can assist in baby raising, but you need to think about if continuing to try and introduce them is really going to keep causing them both stress.

WIth your move, make it as quick as possible and do it during the day so they're asleep. Keep their cage set up like it is and move it as one unit if possible and set that up first in a quiet part of the house and put them back in just as they were before.

@ petluv... It's an 8 hr trip so I am gna just put the cage in the uhaul but I also have 2 smaller cages that can go in the car with me. I have to put them in one of those cuz I will not pit my babies in the back of a truck. I will be moving during the day so hopefully they will sleep the whole way. I'm pretty sure she had babies cuz DJ was grooming rite around her pouch. I tried to look but DJ gave me the stare of death.. Lol so I left them alone. Idk what first time pregnacys don't work out. This wasn't my intention but I will luv these babies like there my own so I'm ready to do what ever I need to do for them.

Can you feel the bumps in her tummy? at one week old they are the size of peanuts. Suz's website will tell you the stages and you can try to figure out the age from there. Sometimes they hide the babies in the back of the pouch and you can't feel them until they get a little older.

Well there deff not as big as peanuts altho her pouch is rather puffy... Guess ill just have to wait n watch. Thasnkz yall!

You said it would make 4. So right now, do you have 2 or 3? What is the age and sex of the other one you've got?

I have a almost 2yr old female (Roxy) and about a yr old male (DJ) and thats it
