well it looks like the mama is only interested in keeping the bigger of the babies alive :( nature i guess. this morning, she had both of them on her belly, and everything was fine, but i checked later in the afernoon and peanut was rooting around in the pouch by his self, then tonight, he was not getting to eat and the other baby was attached. i got him out of the pouch, and he was starving and sucked down half a cc of formula. i put him back on mamas back, and she took off, ran her down again, and put him on her back again, and she took him into the pouch on her back, but then left him again within just a few minutes. so i went to bed, layed down for an hour, got back up to check on him, and she was gone with the bigger baby attached to her, and poor peanut was in the pouch :( so i am going to hand raise him i guess. wish me luck! from experienced people that have handraised, are there pretty decent odds he will live? he is only 3 days oop

He's going to be a lot to take on, but it's not impossible. Suz has amazing guides and resources on hand-raising joeys.

You should schedule to get dad neutered ASAP, they typically mate right after joeys come OOP.

I know nothing at all about breeding but I'm wondering if the lack of them pottying may be because the food is being used up to nourish their bodies while they grow. Maybe you can post on Glider centralhttp://www.glidercentral.net/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php and The Sweet Spot as wellhttp://thesweetspot.forumotion.net/ . You know to kinda broaden your search. Good luck and many prayers. Please do keep us informed.

thats a bit worrisome, they should be pottying if they are not dehydrated... are you using a warm moist cotton ball to stimulate, sometimes it takes a bit and you will need to re-warm/moisten it?

how often are you feeding and how are you preparing it? how are you feeding them {method) and how much are they eating at a sitting?

sorry, in order to help and or make suggests I have to ask alot of questions

If you have facebook it might be quicker to do this over there as Im there more often... My name is Chris Reihner and my pic is me and my blue and gold macaw... just shoot me a friend request :)

You're going to need a possum milk substitute and your going to need to make a mixture up...

check out www.sugar-gliders.com/

They have the possum milk and they also have a new letter that you can look up information like how frequently to feed them how much, how much they should weigh, what temperature they should be. You can also call and talk to them directly, they are very nice people.

You need to dilute the puppy milk. I think double the water, but Chris will have to clarify.

Are you feeding them through a syringe? If you are, you can cause it to go down the wrong pipe into their lungs and suffocate them. You need to put about a spoonful in your hand (I used a baby food jar lid) and dipp their mouth into it, careful not to get it on their noise. They will start lapping it up.

Chris R is THE BEST THERE IS so she will have to clarify but she helped me until my joey passed away unsuspectingly.

Just remember, It doesn't work often and the chance you will loose these is high.

Also, neuter dad. They must have some medical issue that you don't know about but mom does.
After you loose a joey, you will never want to have joeys again but, look on the bright side, you have some wonderful pets and can get another pair to breed.
