With so many new glider owners researching and learning to be glider parent(s) I thought it would be good to remind everyone to "PLEASE CLOSE THE LID". Alot of us spend our playtime with our gliders in the bathroom. Well I'm sure we all close the lid when we do this.

Please also get in the habit of closing the lid Everytime you finish your business. As we all know gliders can be great escape artists but we as glider parents have also accidently left a cage door open or one has gotten away from us. Gliders cannot swim and during their roaming around an empty house or while we are sleeping they always seem to find their way to the toilet and drown. Also if you keep standing water around in a bucket, pail, sink or anywhere remove it or cover it.

Great reminder! We all need to be reminded to keep the toilet lids down at all times. I've finally got my husband trained - but still check after he has been in there!

Me to Rita. I really make it a habit to check mine everynight before I go to bed and everytime I leave the house as well. I think I've fianlly got everyone here trained too. It's been a long time since I had to put one down.

One of my joeys actually fell in about a hour ago my brother went up to go to bed and he play with them for a minute I guess and "forgot" to close their cage luckily I went up about ten minutes after he did I went to go to the bathroom and saw a little black tail on the side of the toilet I dont think he was in there long though only the bottom half of him was wet I still wanted to strangle my brother. it was really scary though it would not be anything i would want any one to go through so just CLOSE THOSE LIDS!!

yes i learned this the hard way i actually come close to losing my little guy this way but i came to the rescue not a moment to soon and he ended up being fine> yay!!!

Closing the lid is also a good compromise between men and women as far as leaving the seat up or down... This way everybody is the same; it doesnt matter. Instead of arguing about the seat, just close the whole thing every time and it just doesnt matter anymore. And sugar gliders are a good excuse anyway.

Now if we an just train the family to wipe the thing down once in awhile we'd be good. How can we use the sugar gliders to motivate there?

Thanks but not my doing......someone else posted it when I first came here and I like it so I saved it to my computer. I had intended to print it and laminate it to the inside of the toilet seats but I never did it. I DO, however, have everyone here trained from my husband right on down to the 3 yr old boy that I just potty trained!

This is SUPER important and I'm always trying to be extra cautious about it as Tazz's mate Snoopy died in a toilet accident (Before I had him....) and here poor owners were so heartbroken....

Please remember, accidents can happen.... so we just have to take the time to make sure it doesn't....

another thing to consider is they have thumbs!!

lol! love the pic of the floating glider! the lid is the first thing on my list when i lock down and get ready for the little fuzzy, i think his fav place to play is on the toilet speaking of that he is on it right now lol
