I think this is it!! Many of you know I've been searching Indiana for a buddy for my Dizzy for forever. Well, I think I've struck paydirt. Found a little female on Craigslist. The owner is going to be gone for the summer, and can't take her suggie with her. She is a solitary glider (so sad ), so if it works out, it'll help two lonely suggies. I'm s'posed to pick her up tomorrow. What a great Mother's Day gift, huh?

Of course I know that I need to quarantine her for awhile, and take her to a vet, yada yada. My only question is that she is no spring chicken - she's three years old. I have no idea of how tame she is, or if she's ever had the company of another glider. (Her mom has no phone, so we've had limited communication by email only.) When the time comes for introductions, can you think of any special considerations that I should know about for introducing a mature female to a six month old male?

Wow! Pre-congrats, my friend! I`m so glad you finally found a 'hopeful' buddy for Dizzy!

As for suggestions, I`ve not yet had the opportunity to experience a situation like what you are about to go through, so I`ve no overly-educated advice to provide. All I can say is this - if anyone can make this work - it`s you! *Hugs* Keep us posted! I can`t wait to hear more and see pictures!

Hoepfully, they're similar in size but when we intro'd our new 3 year old male to the girls, (they were about 7 mos. old I believe and he had never been with another glider), things went extremely well. Hopefully, you'll have no issues! He had also never been played with or outside his cage but he was still a big sweetie.

I also rescued a 3+ year old female, Weasel, last year. After her vet check and 30 day quarantine period, it took about 3 months to introduce her to my 2 girls. Now if it would have only been laid back Tilly I was introducing her to, it wouldn't have taken so long. Tosca and Weasel both have domineering personalities....

Weasel's mate died and she had been a solitary glider for over two years and not touched by human hands during that time period. She is still a little testy at times, but that's ok. I have accepted her fiesty little ways.

So, I think it depends on the personalities of the two gliders involved. Plus, its much easier to introduce two than to introduce multiples.

Im so happy for you!!!!!

I am so happy for you! When I got my Marley and Wednesday they were both 3 neither of them had been handled in about a year (so sad). Marley has come around and is very bonded to me, Wednesday on the other hand is my demon baby. I love her but she does NOT love me. Not yet. But she will, eventually. Dont get discouraged if your baby doesnt love you from the first moment you meet. It will happen though.

As far as introductions, dont ask me that LOL. I'm still having that problem. I can tell you what i've been doing though. Obviously took them all to the vet. I have a tent and we (my husband and I) sit in there while watching movies and just spend TONS of time in there with all 4 in there together. I'm not sure if we'll ever be able to bring them all together as cage mates, if not they can be tent pals right? LOL.

Hey dizzysmom, I got Lelan at 3 years old. He has always been alone. We got him hoping we could put him with the 3 girls after he got altered. The girls seem very interested in him but he wants nothing to do with them. We will keep trying but I'm not sure if they will end up together. Good luck!!! And congrats on your new baby.
