I really enjoy making hemp necklaces and I was thinking maybe I could make some sort of hemp vine for my suggies. But, is hemp bad for suggies? What could be the cons of doing this? I'm sure there are some..but if there are not, this could be a very good idea.

The biggest thing I would say is the fact that twine will soak their pee right up and it will probably get pretty stinky.

I have so much hemp laying around the house, that wouldn't be a big issue, plus you can wash it...it just shrinks some. My concern was their nails may get caught...I know the hemp gets soft after it's washed a few times...then it probablyw ouldnt happen but I'm just not to sure if its safe. But people put those ropes in the cages, it's pretty much the same thing.

I guess they can answer better. I don't get them for that exact reason. I'm not sure about their nails though-not familiar with the texture.

I too am not familiar with the texture of hemp rope. I have rope in my cage but it is a synthetic tightly woven rope so their nails wont get caught. My other concern is if it is a thin rope they might get it wrapped around their leg/neck/ect and could cause injury or death. The rope that I use is around 3/4in thick so their is no chance of that happening. So it might not be a good idea to use unsupervised but using it during tent time should be fine.

Well it's actually very thick hemp, I take 8 strands and (sort of) braid them all together and it creates about a 3/4 in thick rope type of thing. I'll make one, take a picture and put it up here for all of you to look at and get some opinions before I let them play with it. My main concern is their nails.
