i have a set of parents with two new male joeys. they were oop on april 21st, so they are still pretty small but getting bigger every day. before the joeys were born i was mixing up gliderade 5-1 like it says on the container and pouring it into ice cube trays. i would feed the couple one cube every night along with fresh fruits, veggies and fresh water. since my female is nursing i increased their amount of gliderade to a cube and a half as it suggests on the container to help lactating female gliders. since i increased the amount of gliderade they have almost stopped drinking their water, with not even a drop of gliderade left. i did the tent test the other night because they had not been drinking the water and the father seemed to be a little dehydrated and the mother was fine. i since then have only given them one cube every other night. they still aren't drinkin as much water as they used to but they are drinking it. and as spoiling as it sounds they get bottled spring water for their fluids, so i know its water that tasts ok, or at least water that they don't hate. is there any suggestions as to the amount of gliderade they should or will consume, and they amount of water they should consume? how much should two gliders drink between them? they go through a regular size rodent, guinea pig water bottle in about three or four days if i don't change the water but i don't like the water to sit that long. anyway i expect some suggestions from rita, as she seems to be a fountain of knowledge when it comes to gliders but any other experience is greatly appreciated... thanks my fellow glider family!

I know many who give their gliders Glideraide, but really, it isnt a necessity for them. I dont give it to mine.

To get them to drink a little more water, fill their water bottles with that great bottled water and put a tablespoon or two of unsweetened applejuice in it. They love apple juice and it will get them to drink. You will lessen the amount of apple juice everyday until they are drinking plain water. And you will need to change and wash the water bottles daily while adding the juice.

Are you giving them any vitamin supplements? If not, you might want to consider getting some High Protein Wombaroo powder to sprinkle on their food every night.

Thank you for the wonderful compliment. I hope this helps.
