This can be dangerous for a number of reasons.

The most obvious reason being a danger with teeth, claws. A cat bite or scratch can kill a glider quickly due to the toxins they emit.

A less obvious reason involving cat feces would be toxoplasmosis. Rat or mouse feces could lead to tyzzer's disease. A widespread of diseases that could pass. Giardia in a cat may be harmful but giardia in a glider can be extremely deadly much faster simply because they are smaller.

Then there is the simple fact that marsupials simply do not do well if under a lot of stress. A predator in the same room as a glider would for sure stress a glider out. If a glider has a parasite that is dormant and is under a lot of stress the parasite can become active. Just like in humans stress does crazy things to the bodies.

Oh come on, I know that there are people out there who do let their other animals play with their sugar gliders. I am only doing this poll because I was suprised to learn that some of you do let your animals play with your sugar gliders supervised of course. I would never let any other animals play with my sugar gliders, it is just to risky for me.

Hey hey now, My dog smells my glider and she climbs on his head! He is a big bozo and would NEVER hurt her! He plays with stella. Also he sleeps next to their cages. I wouldn't let my cat play with them, But they do smell eachother ALL the time through the bars. OfCourse I dont leave them together. But I know that he would never hurt her. They are all sisters and brothers with an XL brother is all! All my children <3

I learned the hard way . I had 2 parrots (b&g macaw and african grey) they were raised around my dogs and they tolerated each other quite well. They would eat the dogs food all the time. I'm taling they lived together for 3-4 yrs. I didn't worry to much about them together. The macaw could let himself out by dismantleing his cage and would let the african grey out any chance he could. We tried everything....even bought lock nut bolts but no luck. We adopted a new dog.......she did well with the birds until one day I was at work and the macaw got lose (I assume) and I came home to dead birds.....VERY heart braking and something I will NEVER allow again. They birds were so used to my dogs they did not know to be leary of the new one...and they paid dearly for my stupidity. I should have never let them NEAR each other to begin with..

I have 2 dogs, one is a Pekineese and *zu mix (I call her a Peek-a-*)and I also have a begal. My Pek. could careless and never lunges for them so if they are out she can stay in the house but they have NO contact just incase. My begal well that's a different story, he's a hunting breed and he shakes when I am talking to them and he wines and chatteres his teeth. Everything about him is saying "Get loose!!I want to eat you" So he is ALWAYS outside if the gliders are out. It's not worth the chance. I have seen a few video's on You Tube and I am one to judge but I do worry about that what if this or that happend, so I just don't tempt it.

I had a pomeranian that we trained to find rodents. [pets not the pests] so he did fine with them but only in a very closely supervised area and not necessarily on purpose usually

Oh dear lord no! I have a hard time letting my kids around them, and I know they won't eat them! But my house is lock down from the glider's bedroom. I am afraid that I would learn the hard way that they don't get along, so I won't take the chance.

I have to agree with you about the kids, I will only let my 7 year daughter around my glider as long as I am there to watch. I am the one that started this poll and even though I don't have any other animals, I wanted everyone's input on this in case I decided to get other animals. So thank you all for you input on this. And no I would never put any other animals with my glider, no matter what.

I would never do it. I dont have other pets but I dont even trust humans around mine. I had a great Pekingneese years ago but no way if she was still alive would I let her around those gliders.

No- absolutely not! Never ever! Its way to dangerous so why take the risk?

Animals all have hunting instincts and you never know when that will kick in - even from the most docile animal.

Ill probably get eatin alive for this but ill say it anyway.

I do, My dog jake is the closest thing to being lassie that i can find. Hes an amazing dog, trained in a number of things. Hes also fairly tiny. anyway you might think im stupid until you actually met him. he really is that great.

My other dog Sarge is an old cranky little man and i wouldnt let him near my animals. Then again i wouldnt let some of my friends and family near my animals.
