I am curious if some of you who have the means could help me come up with a number of mg of calcium that is needed daily for a sugar glider. Across the various diets and experiments and whatnot, I dont think I have ever seen a number.

I wonder if an approach would be to deconstruct some of the Australian zoo diets to find that number?

My personal thought on that matter is that whatever the number that we can find comes to be, it could easily be halved and then some for a daily nutrient requirement. My thoughts are that gliders can easily get what they need from a varied diet and do not need supplementation if they get a small constant stream of natural sources.

This is a good idea. It would be fairly simple to use our Nutrition feature to come up with some figures, and then reconcile the differences in the figures in a sensible manner. One Australian zoo diet I see already in there is the Taronga; total made by the recipe is 1314 grams, of which 690 grams is calcium. How much is given to a glider per day, and with what other foods? That would give us a starting point.

I'm glad you brought this up Kaz! I had wondered early on, with everyone emphasizing 2:1, what the right amount really was. I mean, if they need 100g of Ca (totally making up a number), and you give 50gCa, 25Ph, it's still the right ratio but not the right amount. Is there a tutorial at all for the nutrition feature? I looked at it and couldn't make heads or tails.
