Last evening, I put Jaco and Yuri's cage out in the living room, next to the three girl glider colony cage. They all seem very happy to see each other. At one time, Jaco and Yuri were part of the colony with Midori and Hilary (& Paganini), before Ella was born. I had to separate them from the girls because they were picking at Paganini (he was sick) and Jaco is not neutered yet, hence Ella came to be, before we took them in.

Interestingly enough, tonight I am noticing that Midori and Hilary are attempting to strip the artificial leaves off of the floral vines I have laced across the interior of their cage. Their little tails are corkscrewed, trying to carry the leaves off. I am assuming that living next door to the boys, especially still-un-neutered Jaco, is sending them into a nesting fit! BTW, Jaco will be neutered very soon...still catching up on all of my vet bills.

I felt so bad for them trying in vain to get those fake leaves off, I just ordered a pack of eucalyptus from Euc Products. I haven't had any for awhile for my gliders. I've never had it while I have had these five gliders. It will be interesting to see the response from these five gliders to the fresh euc. I know that the other eleven enjoy it!

I love the "corkscrew tail"! Kizzi has hers like that permanently for whatever reason but it's so incredibly cute. You just reminded me to go order some eucalyptus too. Thanks! LOL

So cute, this morning they're all still so happy to "see" each other! I am hoping I can get Jaco neutered next week, so that they can all be one big, happy family again soon. Boy, one less cage will make my life a little easier, too, for certain!

How cute! And yes, I imagine one less cage will be very nice for Mommy! My little girl Destiny has a "corkscrew" tail too! I have to tell you though, all my guys can get those leaves off of the vines, and they pop up in the pouches all the time! LOL

Awwe, that's so funny. What kind of artificial leaves do you use? Is this the first time they've tried to tear it down? Haha

Also, I was wondering if eucalyptus was one of those types of food that makes their "musk" a little stronger? I want to buy some euc for my girls too but I don't want their poo to smell really strong because of it, lol.

We want pics!

Look up Euc Products. They have organically grown eucalyptus, the only variety that is safe for gliders--the same type that they use in the wild. My gliders do not actually eat the eucalyptus much. They do strip the branches, carry around leaves, and nest with the leaves in their hanging cage pouches, much as they would make nests with the leaves in the wild.
