Okay so you all might be mad at me, and I know the importance of quarantine, trust me, but long story short I had to introduce my gliders last night. (Try as I might to bandage down and secure Vestral's cage she always seemed to find a way out and they kept barking through the walls and Wavern knew there was another glider and was becoming unusual.) Anyway, I am going to take them both to the vet just to be on the safe side and I know all about monitoring for changes in urine/feces/eating/behavior (that was something that made me a valuable asset as a zookeeper!), and I will do anything and everything if either of them fall ill. So anyway, let's get past that and let me tell you the amazing story!

I started by taking Wave outside of Vestral's cage and letting them sniff each other through the bars, and they were both very curious. So last night my mom and I sat in the bathroom and took them both out. Apparently Vestral thinks I am her mommy (of course Wavern does also) and my mom had to tell me how the intros were going because they were doing it on my back and shoulders! I was worried how Wave would react after not seeing another glider in about six months. But she couldn't have been happier! They sniffed and sniffed, walked away, came back, sniffed some more, and then Wavern started holding Vestral to groom her! She was like "this is my sister! my very own little sister!". After this went well I put them in the large cage (after cleaning it and putting plenty of pouches all over for them. I stayed watching them for an hour, and Wavern 'chased' Vestral about the cage, not to fight with, but to lick all over! Vestral looked at me like "why......why do I have a glider attached to my bum?", and I told her to just smack Wavern if she wanted her to stop. They ate fine, and were not aggressive towards one another.(I had put food bowls in very separate locations just n case!) Vestral is a bit more submissive, but this could be due to the few month age difference.

I kept checking on them throughout the night, and they were happy and playing together! And the best thing on Earth happened this morning! I found them sleeping together in the same box! And now they are in the same pouch curled up and snacking on some apple!

It was also exciting to hear all the new sounds they made to one another that Wavern had never made to me!

How exciting!

You know, every situation is different, and ultimately each animal owner has the right to make final decisions for their pets (and nobody is closer to the intimate details than you). Case closed...

I remember getting my trio together, and even while the cages were close together, I was astounded by all the different sounds that I never heard from a glider before! Isn't that so wonderful??

Now everything will be twice as good as before!

Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had a little escape artist too, which is dangerous (we ha quite a great mouse catching cat) my husband ended up rewrapping the cage with hardware clothe to keep her in. With any kind of luck at all you will get clean bills of health from your vet and never have to worry about it again. congrats again on your new little one! Glad intros went well.

I'm so happy to hear that they like each other. Congratulations on the intro's. Sometimes you have to do what you must. I know you'll take care of any health issues that come up. Just get them in for a Vet visit as soon as you can. Again congratulations my friend. HUGS.

I don't think anyone's mad. As Sariyappa said, you are the one who's right there, and it's your decision to make; and when you have an escape artist, security is the most important consideration. And this is one of those love-at-first-sight stories that are so doggone heartwarming. Congratulations!

Thank you all for your love and kindess! I was just taking out their food this morning and peeked into their nest basket and saw them curled up with their heads together and they both groggily looked at me and were like "ten more minutes" and snuggled back up! I am so happy that my girlies are getting along so well!
