Maybe I am taking this the wrong way but this sounds just horrible to me!!!

I think it ranks right up there with the mills.

I would no more support this activity than I would an auction of human babies.

(NOTE: This message is not directed at jbsgirl but at the auction itself)

well, at least she might save a poor glider from there. I support her to take a glider from those awful people.

As horrible as it sounds, you ARE promoting this type of auction by attending and purchasning an animal. The only way to stop this is to NOT purchase any animals at all from them.

This is not rescueing - this is putting money in pockets of people who will turn around and get more gliders to take the place of this one.

How is it even legal to publicly auction off animals that may very well be endangered or illegal?

That is the best question Kyro. How is it legal. Do these people have licenses? Since I live in Ohio, I would love to boycott it. I would never pay to go to an auction, or even attend one where they are selling live animals. It seems cruel and sick to me.

I love the fact that it is legal to own even endangered (or extinct in the wild) hoofstock in almost every state. Excuse my french-but why the hell is it legal to own and hunt (yes hoofstock are classified unfortunately as livestock-even endangered species) four legged hoofed animals in captivity when they have dwindled to almost nothing in the wild? I hate seeing ads where you can hunt your own african wild game over in Texas. I am a lover of ungulates and I literally have to hold back from gagging when I see cruelty like this. Again, this is directed to the people who breed these species and sell them as pets to unsuspecting people (chimps are one of the most violent creatures alive-why are they owned by families with children or photographed by tourists posing next to them?). I do support AZA zoos and wildlife refugees and rehabilitation clinics, but these facilities do their best to keep the wild in the animals and to stimulate them in every sense. They are not treated as cuddly pets.

i agree i did mention in the above that i find this cruel.. i have cried there many times over it.. but i can't denie myself the oppertunity to give sympothy to these creatures and just give them a stroke or a soft word.. of course i then continue too GRILLLL the breeders.. i have seen many a rescue there.. and(rita) i feel that yes.. in a way it is supporting a breeder but i also look at in a way that i'd rather support the breeder and atleast save one of those suggies lives from a hamster cage and pellet food.. its the least i can do.. note i am 14 therefor i dont have much power to boycott and im really not heard by anybody there that i rant at.. however if they absorb one word of what i say it is still.. more than nothing.. saving one suggie i feel is worth the false support of the breeder (i also dont think there are many mills there) most the breeders only have one or two suggies there.. you can have as many as you want there

jbsgirl-I agree with you. I have seen hurting animals, and even when I can do nothing else, I go and offer the smallest amount of kindness by talking or petting them, hoping that even this might make the tiniest of a difference. I also feel that anything you do, and anything you say, is a step in the right direction if aimed against the horrors of this world. Yes we can't all sit on Congress's steps and fight the system, but if we educate even one person, we can help spread the word. That is why every person I see who asks about my gliders, I explain the pros and cons of them and tell them the lies and horror that is PPP. And if PPP is reading this, you can suck it.
