Yes I have two classified ads. I am not sure what "trolling" means so idk what to say about that. I am a newly licensed breeder and am looking for a male mate for Dutchess. She is the one I am asking if she is in fact mosaic. I removed the picture of her in a leash because I was told thats a no no. I also threw the leash away. I am VERY distraught with the possiblity I was taken advantage of. Dutchess's mother Juliette was white mostly with light blond/brown patches, Father Romeo, was grey and blond faced. So what do I do? I am learning so please keep in mind I don't know it all and asking so I can do the right things with my lil lday Dutchess. Thats why I Immediatly threw away her leash. There is no need to be rude, I truley need some help. thefotokat Glider 177 Posts When you become a pet owner, you agree to take on all responsibilities involved w/caring for that animal's well being. To properly do that, you must educate yourself about that animal. Making the decision to breed any animal requires even more education on your part. You must know about the animal's life cycle, health, care of young, etc. You must also know your particular animal's behavior patterns so that you can ensure its safety and emotional well being during attempts at reproduction. It seems you've only had gliders for a very short time, and as you said, you are still learning. Learning is fantastic and it's something we all encourage. However, allowing your gliders to breed while you are still at this stage in your learning process is irresponsible. I'm not being rude, simply stating my opinion. I am a rescue home and I see, and deal with, the consequences of folks who get in over their head. I don't want to see any more gliders suffer because of an owner putting their wants over the gliders' well being. You say you threw away the leash when you learned it was dangerous. That's great and it was the right thing to do. Please continue on with your learning process and take it very slow. That is how you act in the gliders' best interests. I'm sure this is not what you want to hear, but you're not ready to be a breeder. Give yourself some time and learn so that you may grow into a responsible breeder who puts their gliders' well being above all else. I agree with Catman; A reputable breeder should have a substantial amount experience with gliders and a basic knowledge of the color variations before they begin breeding. I am not saying this in a condemning or judgmental way. It's just that there's so much to know and things could go awry pretty quickly. Are you prepared with rejected joey kits? I would highly recommend that you talk to a breeder to see what all is involved before choosing this path. FloridaSugarBreeder Joey FL, USA 16 Posts Thank you all, Yes I purchased a Rejected joey kit From Suz's sugar glider kit. I am continuing my education. any references would greatly be appreciated. I am in my 3rd month of research and got my first female. *QUESTION If a parent is in fact a Mosaic is it possible for offspring to not have similar markings? I have researched Heterogeneous traits but I am no geneticists. valkyriemome Goofy Gorillatoes USA 3479 Posts I sell mosaic gliders. The pure white mosaics (not leus) are currently going for around $2000-3000. The minimally marked ones - which yours would be if she is indeed a mosaic - go for about $800-1000. I see no mosaic markings at all on that picture. She might be a mosaic, but - doesn't look like it. Do you have lineage? You are looking for just any ol' glider to mate with her? Without researching the lineage? You won't be able to sell any gliders to anyone who is seriously interested without lineage. You could maybe sell them as pets for a couple hundred. I don't understand why you started out with a $4000 glider? Are you trying to get rich off of your glider breeding? Because- based on this post you don't really have enough experience to purchase a glider without getting ripped off - let alone breed. I'm not being rude, I'm just stating observations. Yes, you got ripped off.
SamTom Joey USA 38 Posts If both parents are mosiac it is still possible for any offspring to not be a mosiac. Just as it is possible for a grey to give birth to a mosiac. There is no guarantee. However if the lineage of the parents is to produce mosiac the chances will be greater for any offspring to be mosiac. FloridaSugarBreeder Joey FL, USA 16 Posts Thank you all I am pulling my classified ads and will be doing much needed research! Again thank you for your help. Anyone caring to further help me I am sincerely seeking help in being a reputable breeder. I will not be placing any more ads for selling until I am ready. Thank you for any more advice to come...
