they use to eat a little of everything i give them. They ALWAYS eat the hpw diet so its gotten to the point where i had to only give them veggies fruit at night. and the hpw in the morning bc thats the only way they seem to eat a little bit of everything..but the past 2 nights they havnt been eating their frutis or veggies. im not sure why! i thought cutting back on the amount i gave them would help. But they lick a little bit. then thats it. maybe i did a nasty blend of fruits? i put blueberry, strawberry, kiwi, mango and a little pair ( sounds like a weird combanation) but i thought it taste good lol. putting honey on it wont work they just eat the honey. plus they already have honey in the hpw.
Like i said before. the only way they will eat the veggies is if thats all i leave in the cage. but.. i cant keep doing that. bc they wont eat the other stuff after that. has anyone had this problem? like.. my boy earlier was starving! cuz he didnt eat anything last night... so i gave him a worm for a treat. ate that in 2 bites. no kidding. no sucking juices he ATE it all. then i gave him a pumpkin seed an ate that fast as well. so since he seemed hungry i tried giving him a blueberry..strawberry.a carrot. he didnt touch them!i didnt want to keep feeding him bc he wont eat tonight if i do. i havnt been giving them treats bc they wotn eat their REAL food.

Mine are all picky eaters when it comes to fruits and veggies. I've found that when I put the fruits/vegetables into the blender and puree it (I sometimes add some vogurt or fruit juice), that they'll usually eat it that way.

If they are not eating blended mixtures of fruits try giving them ONE type of fruit cut in small glider hand size pieced. They might be more interested in something they can pick up.

Another way to keep them interested in their food is to let them forage for dinner. I use small hanging bird cups and put dinner in 3 dishes, fruit in one, veggie in another and their diet in the third then hang them in various places around the cage.

Sometimes they just need a change in routine to keep them interested in their food.

thank you =) ive actually tried giving them chopped veggies an chopped fruits an still only ate a little of it. ( i thought it was bad for them not to eat it all) but i was told it was ok.im just curious why they didnt touch it at all last night. well see how tonight goes. hopefully theyll eat. i try feeding them with my fingers first. an whatever they dont lick..i put back in the frigde until i go to bed then i put it in their cage. bc when i put them back in their cage they WILL NOT come out of their pouches until all lights are off an im out of sight..sometimes in the morning though they look like they beg me for food. but i know its fatty food they want.

Maybe you can puree the fruits, veggies, and HPW all together. That way they're forced to have the fruits and veggies. Maybe keep a little bit of it NOT pureed so they can pick up little bits of blueberries and stuff. But make the majority of it applesaucy in texture.

If you are using pureed fruits - do not let them lick your fingers then put your fingers back into the puree that you plan to use later.

The saliva on your finger when transferred to the food in the dish will cause it to begin to spoil VERY quickly. You may even notice the food gets watery - the saliva will begin to digest the food in the dish.

Since it is a puree, you may not see that it is breaking down, but your gliders may know it is spoiling quickly and refuse to eat it.

thats a good idea fadedrainbows.. i like the idea of giving them part blended an party solid food. so they can choose. when i feed them from my fingers i usually pick it up with a spoon then dip my finger in the spoon and give it to them. i dont put my finger back in the bowl. thatnk you for that knowledge though i did not know that candy =)

Gliders are just like us. One day we will want or eat something and the next could care less for it. Don't give up.
