i have 2 girl suggies one is a little over a year old and the other is probably 3 months old (maybe 4 months) i got the older one frm a friend cause she couldnt afford her anymore and i purchased the baby a week later. the oldr one came with a small hampster cage so i got the baby a small hampster cage as well. but in about 2 weeks im purchasing a 5 level glider cage. i was told do not put them together cause they are both females but others say females are not as mean to each other as the males. it well be ok to put them together right? khloe is the older one she just came out of heat (that was horrible!!) i keep them in my room. she hissed and crabbed and ran around her cage all night. stayed in durin the day of course...

You don't usually have a big problem putting 2 females together they are not as territorial as the males are. However it is usually suggested that you wait to put them together till they are pretty comparable in size. That way they have more of a chance to defend themselves if need be.

I just responded in your other thread about your little one needing a friend but I don't know how I missed you have another. Sorry about that. Lots of people have had great success introducing females. Have either of them had cagemates before?

lol its alright. its hard gettin 2 at once that arent really bonded with ppl yet... my friend hardly ever played with khloe due to her working hours but she did have khloe in her own bedroom and left the cage opened and let her do whatever she wanted to do. i stay with my mom right now cause i recently got injured at work and just bak to where i can go to work and fixin to get my own place again and im planning on puttin them in thier own little room. lona is a tad bit smaller than khloe. they both arent really aggressive, just a lil bitting and crabby when u awake them up. so i figured ill do the whole introduction on my day off and stay home the whole day to watch them make sure no fights break out. but when i do end up gettin a male, well i have problems wit 2 females and 1 male in the same cage? and no they have never had cage mates before. i got lona right as soon as she was ready to leave her mom.

since your girls are from different places, you need to keep them in separate rooms for a 30 day quarantine. Be sure you have both examined by a vet to make sure neither has a parasite or illness that could cause problems for both.

If the joey is a lot smaller than the older glider you may want to wait until she is close in size before beginning introductions.

two girls should get along fine but take your time with the introductions.

ya its been past 30 days i got both of them the 2nd week of september. ok ya ill check that article out. ok so when i do get the bigger cage, i was told i should go ahead and put the baby in it first and when shes bigger put the older one in with her. so the older one wont try to claim the cage?

After both girls get a clean bill of health from your vet and the little one is close to the size of the older one then you can begin intros.

If you do several play times with your girls in a tent or glider proof bathroom and they get along, go into the same pouch together and appear ready to sleep in the same pouch - I would put them into the new large cage at the same time. That way neither one will have marked the cage and they can begin their lifelong companionship together in the new cage.

Try doing intros during the day time when they are both sleepy. For me that has seemed to help them decide to share a pouch (have a clean one ready for them to share rather than the one either one has slept in.) If they are happy together sleeping in the new pouch - leave them together and be ready to keep an eye on them when they first wake up and eat dinner. Two dinner dishes might be a good idea the first few nights to make sure neither is a plate hog.

If the sleep together and do not fight over the food they should be fine together alone at night.

ok awesome, main thing thou is how do i find a vet that sees gliders? there are a few vets here where i live (weatherford oklahoma) and only one of there does wildlife and homepets i dont know if exotic would be considered in there or not. and khloe dont like coming out of her pouch when ppl is around so how well the vet be able to do a check?

I live in Oklahoma too, so I know a couple exotic vets here in the city. But I know that's quite a drive for you from Weatherford. What I did when I was looking for exotic vets was pull out the phone book and call every single vet! I asked them if they treat exotics, if they treat sugar gliders specifically, and if not could they direct me to a vet who does. So you may try to do that.

Otherwise, I can tell you who I go to. But like I said, it's in the city and would be far for you (especially in emergency situations).

ok thats cool ya ill have to do the same as u maybe ill have luck in this town if not maybe the next few over or something. if not ill get a hold of u and get your vets name and address. but when they groom thier self they make a hissing noise sometimes right? well i was talkin to khloe(the oldr one) before i left 4 wrk yesterday and she looked perfectly fine. when i woke up this morning and i was talkin to her again and gettin her to come out of her pouch i looked at her tail i just love their tails, long and fluffy. but her tail looked weird it wasnt as fluffy as normal it looked skinny. i dont know why. she eats the bml diet and has since i had her so i know its not the food shes eating. and she active. so i dont know what it is. why did she groom her tail so muc?

i have researched the same thing. i have never heard of a case that females have problems. the only thing i could think off is 2 females and a male. or 2 males and a female, or 2 males(duh), idk i mean u can always have trouble out of gliders. if they dont like each other then they dont. it depends....
