Ok, this is my first attempt to post anything in the Gliderpedia but here goes. When I wrote out my first handout it was a full page...both sides. Then I reailzed that most of the people who would recieve these where at a fair or a mall or somplace fun, and they probably wouldn't take the time to read the full length novel that I'd written. So I tried to pull out just the most important things that a person needed to know about animal they were about to be exposed too. You guys can edit it anyway you want. I don't care about the ol' who wrote what. I just hope that we can get this infomation out there.

Here goes

1 Virtually all sugar gliders sold at flea markets, fairs or home shows come from glider mills
2 It is a well known fact that mills are breeding grounds for infections, parasites and communicable diseases
3 A sugar glider that is old enough to be taken from its mother will have a bushy tail and be highly active
4 Sugar gliders are high maintenance pets that require specialized diets, large cages, and a lot of time.
5 Sugar gliders need veterinary care. We recommend wellness exams twice a year.
6. Small animals such as sugar gliders do not “play well” with dogs, cats or other animals.
7 Sugar gliders are high maintenance animals. You will need to spend a lot of time with them and they need special diets, toys and large cages.
8 Sugar gliders don’t make good pets for children. Gliders can live up to 15 years and most children will loose interest before then.

I meant to hit the preview button but oooppps. I think it is OK. With this bieng short, several could be printed on one sheet of paper. That would cut costs. They could be handed out. Maybe put on windshields. Left at vet offices, hung in laundry mats, Attached to bulliton boards, .....

Thanks for posting this. If you want to start an article and put this in the Gliderpedia yourself (versus posting in this forum), simply click the "Edit Profile" link in the top area of the page, it's in the yellow box just under the website menu. Then click on the "Gliderpedia Edits" section, and then select "yes" to be an editor. You can then start editing and creating as many pages as you think are necessary.

Anita, I'll go add your list to the Gliderpedia to get things started. Feel free to enable editing and contribute as you see fit.

For anyone else reading this that may be unfamiliar with how the Gliderpedia is *supposed* to work, I think the following video gives a pretty good explanation:

Posted it under "Handout Templates" www.sugarglider.com/gliderpedia/index.asp?HandoutTemplates

I added a second item, so if anyone wants to add to it or change, please feel free to do so.

I know there are some other handouts people have made, but I'm not sure where those are located. Everyone please feel free to post a link to where they can be found, or add a link to the page in the gliderpedia article.

Thanks so much Eric! I had tried to create a page and was failing miserably! Lol! Also, can I have permission to use your guy's pictures for making handouts? Try as a might I can not get a clear pic and for legal reasons I can't get it off the internet, so I'm asking any member of this forum! Thanks so much!

I think the best bet is to leave company names off of the fliers for legal reasons. A first step would be to print up masses of fliers and put them on car windshields to educate the public not to impulse buy, and hopefully they will then find out about the crap the companies are feeding them!

I think a warning that mill breeders will tell you not to research other forms of educating yourself on Sugar Glider care and you should do your OWN research as you can never have to much knowledge when owning a glider.

Besides all they other problems with mill breeders like selling gliders to yound and the diet that they sell you, I think the above is also one of the worst.

Just a suggestion for the handout.
