Just wanted to know if gliders will eventually cuddle with you? I just got two almost a week ago. One is coming around although he is still really scared but the other one is crabbing and trying to bite all the time.

The honest truth is it is not likely. I guess if they sleep on you, you could call it that but it is rare to hear about a glider that will purposely come up to you for the purpose of snuggling/cuddling. I guess it also depends on what you consider to be "cuddling"?

Yeah, you need to explain what it is you are actually hoping for. Cuddling can mean different things to different people.

If when your glider's sleeping in your shirt counts as cuddling, then my glider's LOVE to cuddle! The first thing they do when you take them out of their cage is they climb right down into your shirt and they just kind of hang out there :)

Mine like to nuzzle in my neck, and they love to be pet... but I also have a very strong bond w/ my babies, and Sugar likes it more than the other two.

My opinion on the subject, they are very interactive, but not exactly "cuddly" pets.

I agree they are not *cuddly* little cutie pies. But that doesnt mean they wont interact with you. The majority of gliders will not snuggle with you - so dont be disappointed if that doesnt happen.

I'm just going to say no. And the fact that you are asking such a question could suggest that a glider is not the right pet for you. It really isnt for most folks which is why so many end up homeless and/or unwanted. So consider that.

This is my cuddle buddy, Joey. Whenever I'm laying down relaxing, usually Joey, or Jack, or both, are laying on my chest under a blanket with me. Please not this was not an immediate thing. It took almost a year and a half for them to sleep on me, without fear that they would try to run away. Also note, this may or may not happen. Some gliders will never fully bond with their owners because of their personality or history with humans, and will never be able to do this. I just got lucky

As defined by Webster, "to hold close for warmth or comfort or in affection", I'd have to say that the pic above sure illustrates that.

How cute!

It was just a question, and to clarify I do consider a glider curled up on you its way of cuddling. Don't be so quick to "suggest" that a glider is not the right pet for me because I have done my research. I was merely posting a question to people who have owned a glider much longer than myself.

I would certainly never contribute to homeless or unwanted gliders. I happen to love and care for animals.

It's pretty funny if I get Molly's colony out to cuddle during the day. I will have SIX gliders, all clinging to my tummy and brassiere! They all vie for the "sweet spot" that Molly always seems to get, which is directly over my heart. :-)

Good question. Yes, it depends on what u call cuddling. I hve been up since 0630 today my day off. I have taken my gange out and have been playing with them all morning. One my one they started crawlling down my shirt and going to sleep. Mind u not thier cage but me. They don't get to do this very offen. So I would say yes they can and do and will cuddle but it is going to or can take time. I still have them down my shirt. My wife was leaving for work so before she left I came on here and saw this post. I had her take a pic to show you. Yes we woke them up but they are back sleeping now. I will let them do this for about another hour or so, then I need to get some stuff done around the house.

About a year ago or so Dakota fell asleep in my hand while I was watching tv.

omg! those piccies are just so cute. I hope I can get my babies to trust me like that! The run around on me all over the place, and they'll run around under coats and things, but usually for lounging and 'cuddling' I just grab them and their bonding pouch and sit with with them against me all day, which I guess is pretty close ^-^ I might start shoving one of their 'blankies' into a pocket and getting them more adjusted to me instead of the pouch. ^-^
