As some of you know, Abby AKA glider mommy gave me Shya sometime back. I have been trying to do intros for quite a while now. I have their cages side by side, switched pouches, switched cages and had several tent times. Nothing has worked!! Of the 2 girls I have,Sassy is the dominant female even though Sweety is her Mom. Shya,I believe,is also a dominant female. Sassy and Shya have had fights every time they get around each other. The 1st fight Shya lost a very small patch of hair on her tail. The last time I had them together (sunday) Sassy went up behind Shya sniffed the tip of her tail and attacked her. I pulled them apart and ended up with Sassy REALLY attacking my finger. The little stinker would not let go. All I have gotten out of this so far is a few chewed up fingers from the 2 of them. WHAT am I missing or forgetting to do? I love Shya to death, she is the sweetest thing and I don't want her to be by herself. Brian won't let me get another glider. I am thinking she would most likely do better with a male(neutered of course). I am going to try to call Abby today, I've sent her a pm and an e-mail and I haven't heard anything from her, I hope she is ok. Please tell me I am forgetting SOMETHING!!
I'm not the expert but it sounds like you've done everything correctly. From what I understand, some gliders can be choosey of their friends. Maybe this is the case with Sassy and Shya. It must be very stressful for you trying to get them together and getting bit yourself in the process. The only thing I can think to suggest is just give them some individual playtime for now, take a break from intros for a while, and start fresh here in a week or so. I would get some fleece blankies to put in their pouches too, and swap those from time to time. Hope it all works out for them and you! I think you can get it from suncoast. I found it here is the link, I think its worth a try. http://www.sugar-gliders.com/sugar-glider-bonding-potion.htm
One other thing you may try, which you may have already, is getting them together during the day. If you have done this already let me know. But it just seems that maybe you might have some luck with them being more docile during their sleeping hours.
