RobintheRocker has posted a journal entry asking this question:

quote:
Hey all.
I've just bought 2 sugar gliders - they're one year and four months old.
But i noticed that the male's left eye is blue, and kind of matt (google translates the opposite of blank with matt). I don't think that it's infection, because the eye is wide open, and he doesn't seem to feel pain in that eye. I tried to get a picture of it, but i can't..

Does anyone know what that might be?

I will be pming him the link to this post so he can see the answers. Thanks!

I am no expert and I have no previous experience so most of what I know is things that I have read here and a few other places, but I think it may be a sign of blindness. Of course the best way to find out is to take the glider to a exotic vet, which if it hasn't been in for wellness exams would be something you want to do anyway.

i'd have the vet check as well, anytime an animal has that matte eye color its usually a sign of cataracts which can lead to blindness or already be blind does he respond to movement if you take your finger near that eye?

Could be blind in that eye and they should also ask the person they bought them from. But yes, vet check.

Could be blink, but only a vet can tell, so sounds like a vet visit is in order.
