Okies, I have two Sugar gliders that I will have had for a year at the end of January. One male (Felony) one female (Miss-Demeanor), him being neutered. as far as we know they are both at least over a year and a half old, they were full gown when I got them. They were both rescued from a humane society that had 12 of them dumped on her door step one night!! (this being my mother in Tennessee)These two have been together from the first time she put them in cages to feel out who got along with whom and have been more or less great to each other for as long as I have had them. So there's their background, lol, and now for the issue... There might be little snickerings between then every now and then, but just usual suggy-ness. But three nights ago, my little boy out of the blue just started crabbing like crazy. So I get up and make sure no one is stuck on or in something, do a good look around and they're just sitting at the bottom of the cage by their food bowl. So I stand there for a little while just watching them, and Mr. just started crabbing at Girly and jumping at her keeping her from the food, so I separate it into two different bowls and put them on either side of the cage, that seemed to work more or less that night. Next night, I tried putting it in one bowl, to see if he was just cranky that night, and stood by, and he would just start yelling at her and jumping at her again, even just walking by on the bar above the food bowl, so I put him in our travel cage that night with his own bowl of food and water (a smaller bird cage with a couple toys and pouches)Last night I had to do the same thing, I just don't know what has gotten into him! It started completely out of the blue, the night before all that started to happen I was telling my husband it's so cute that they just sit in the bowl together eating their fruits and buggies. Any ideas?? or solutions??

I'm grabing at straws. Maybe it's her time of the month. When women/animals have that it make us men nuts. Not saying anything about the females atitude.

LOL! Nice. You might be right? :P

Maybe you could just keep two bowls in the cage for them?

When is the last time they visited their vet? Generally, when a glider's behavior suddenly changes, it means he's not feeling well. I've not heard of food aggression listed as a common change; but I'm thinking along the lines of aggression in general. And it's possible that she's the one who's not well; in the wild gliders will drive out a sick colony member to keep it from attracting predators. This is the first thing that came to my mind.

hm, they are due for a checkup, I'll have to do that, but she has been acting the same as usual as far as I can tell and he is perfectly fine with her the rest of the day, it only happens once I put food in there, they were running around the cage earlier with no problems and everything, but suggies know each other better than we do, lol. Thanks for the help guys!!
