So I'm sure everyone is well aware of the wonderful mess our little gliders make as they eat, I am just posting this thread to find out what some of you have done to prevent some of this food flinging frenzy. I have heard of people putting rubber mats and shoe boxes down on the bottom of the cage, but i was wondering if anyone has had anything that the suggies have to crawl into to eat their food.

I am particularly interested in something that will allow me to leave my hanging food dishes attached to the side of the cage rather than down on the floor of the cage... Something that is easily accessible/cleanable... and that the suggies won't mind.

I'm interested in all of your ideas. Please share. Pictures would be wonderful if at all possible.

Thanks

Why actually yes. We call them "Glider Kitchens". You can do a search in the sugarglider.com search bar. I would try to find some threads for you but I don't have that much time right now!

I believe that your first link doesn't work anymore... but as far as the kitchen goes, i have seen many like this but i am trying to figure something out that can allow me to still have my dishes attached to the side of the cage but still provide the coverage needed lol. thanks for the link though.

I am wondering if i can somehow modify that sort of kitchen to go onto the side of the cage... maybe by just cutting slits in the plastic? ... I dunno.

just wondering if any has had anything like what i'm looking for.

I'm thinking you could take one of the plastic containers that everyone is using as kitchens and just turning it sideways. Cut a slit in the bottom [the lid side] just big enough to fit the part of your bowl that hooks to your cage. So you would put the bowl in the kitchen, then push the hook through the lid side to the outside. That should hold the kitchen in place. Then just put a hole in the side so they can get in and out easily. I'd just use a smaller container since you're not putting multiple bowls in there.

Did that make sense? If not I will try to draw a picture and upload it. =]
