..... because of the ink on the paper is bad for them even if u dont see then trying to lick or eat it.They will still walk on it and at some point lick there little hands /feet. i use puppy pads unscented and change them out every other day .
i use news paper. but i have a pullout tray below it. i dont see why u shouldnt use it if they cant get to it. i thouht of puppy pads, but i decided not 2 use them.
I think it's more about not wanting them to eat the old food sitting ON the newspaper. Like Snusie said, most newspaper has veggie based inks. If in doubt, call the paper and ask. It's black and white that's recommended, not colored paper.
Like i said above i have it and have had 0 problems with it. but thats probably b-c my glider is very tidy. if something is in her cage and she doesnt like it? she pitches it out. so as long as she doessnt come into contact with it shes fine.
Are we supposed to be lining the bottom? I did not know..LOL I have been pulling the tray out everyday and scrubbing it out..Lining would be so much easier..
Mikayle, me too! Which is a pain. But.. cheap. We don't get newspapers delivered to us... but there are some free ones I could pick up. I've never seen mine try to reach through the bottom. Even if they drop treats they just look at me for another one, so I'll see half eaten mealworms/yoggies when I clean up in the morning.
