Helloo all!!!!

Just wanted to let everyone know that cheech and chong have been neutered and are doing great. They got the laser neutering done about a week ago (Nov 6th. to be exact) and I just wanted to know about how long it takes for the neutering to be completely successful? I've heard that it can take a few weeks before the bald spots go away and the stronger scent they emit diminishes. They are both only 13 weeks oop but already had little bald spots that are gradually going away.

It may take a few months (though probably less). Herc still has a little bald spot, and he's been neutered since last April. However, he was much older when he was neutered.

My daughter had her little guy neutered when he was about 15 months and his bald spot took about a month to disappear, but the smell was much better in less time then that. I am glad they are doing great. Laser is the way to go.

In my gliders' cases, the vet did the surgery with a tiny, focused laser beam. Of course, the gliders were given anesthetics first. I was actually in the OR with them during that part, and then I stepped out when they did the surgery. It was very fast, and I guess relatively painless. My guys were pretty much back to normal (sans poms) by that same evening. By the next day, all I could see was a tiny dimple on their bellies where the poms had been, no scabs, wounds, or the like.

Yes, it can take up to a few months for the bald spot to disappear. You should probably be noticing the scent isn't as strong though. At 13 weeks, I'm not sure how strong it would have been yet anyway but that part should definitely be improving already.

When my five-year-olds got neutered, it took months for the bald spot to get fluffy again; but the smell diminished within days and was completely gone in two weeks -- and they were really stinky boys!
