hi,

I've been recently researching owning a sugar glider, but have had difficulty finding breeders in NY. there is one "company" in the albany area (im near albany for school but live bout 1.5 hours south of here) that sells the gliders but forces you to buy their cage and starter kit for a grand total of $500. I was wondering if anyone knows of breeders or reliable pet stores in NY that sell gliders?

thanks

You shouldn't go to a breeder when there are so many out there that need a home....

I took the liberty of looking up the sugar gliders for sale on kijiji, although I'm sure you can find more on Hoobly and Craigslist too.....

Take a look....

I got one of my girls from a wonderful woman in Watkins Glen New York, who has 3 gliders ready right now, and 2 who are waiting to be weaned. She has posted here on the classifieds, her username is senecasun, and her gliders are healthy and super sweet/well handled.

I totally agree you can usually find quite a few on these sites that are in need of forever homes.

Make sure to do a LOTTTT of research. You say you have, but then say you want 'one'. You NEED two if you get any. So do a LOT of research.

All of mine came from Craigslist. Two I purchased, the others were most certainly rescues.

I personally advise against breeders unless it's a last resort.
