today I rescued 2 gliders 1 is girl and 1 is a boy i think there related not sure though they were in a tiny bird cage and been being feed dog food they smelled of urine (peewee) well they have been together for about a year hes a big boy shes a little thing.I am noticing tonite which is our first night together that it appears hes trying to mate with her and shes not wanting to so tell me something if they are related will they mate or not,hes being really mean to her, which has probably been going on awhile.also they never had toys till today and they really dont know what to do with them, they have been up and eating for hrs and all that I gave them is about gone.how do I teach them to drink out of a bottle i dont think they know how.they needed washing so i put them under warm running water they still smell bad though.

Yes, he will absolutely still try to mate. He should get neutered asap. As far as their smell, especially because they are somewhere new, they're probably both marking overtime. Neutering will also help out tremendously with odor. A good diet will help too. If they smell, washing them will not help. They'll keep marking more to get their scent back. If they ever need help being cleaned, which they should very rarely, use a warm washcloth and make sure they get completely dry.

Yes, she can get pregnant. How do you know she's not had a baby? I'd get them to the vet ASAP, and definitely see about getting him neutered. It's too late for this mating, but will at least prevent any future joeys. It sounds like you picked up a handful! (((hugs)))

There are glider pairs that are together for years before producing joeys. She is probably in heat and they are following their animal instincts, related or not unfortunately. Does he have his bald spot? Maybe they are younger than you were told? It's hard to say.

I have them on the correct diet now but it will take awhile to straightene them both up.its sad how they were living, where i got them NEVER held them and I have been doing that since i got them earlier today ther a little scared but not much it will take time but I will win them both over.

I don't know that I would separate them. They're going through enough stress right now. I think they need each other.

One way to tell is if he is following her around none stop. Smelling her underside, trying to get on top. Bite marks on her. The best thing right now is to let them get use to their new home. Then look at getting them a new big cage, along with a vet exam. Good diets, toys, sleeping pouches, two water bottles in the cage. Maybe back track with them and see if the male is neutered. You could take a pic of his underside and we might, just might beable to help. Good luck.

It's possible that he's gotten her pregnant before and she's cannibalized the joeys especially if they weren't on a good diet the mother may eat the joeys if she's not getting enough protein. Also if there was some kind of defect from inbreeding the parents may kill them. I think you should get the male neutered asap they could be brother and sister for all we know.

omg. that sounds horrible!! wellness check is needed. if u have them on a good diet, with a big cage, lots of toys, and are trying to bond u sound good to go. give us pics as said above so we can get a better idea.
