I have finally got my males fixed. Today has been a full 48 hours since they got it done. I feel like such a bad mom for waiting this long. Since my boys are being kept separate from the girls while they heal. The girls have gotten pretty mean excpeshially the baby. I really hope there attitude changes once the boys go back in the main cage. my boys on the other hand are doing very well. They wake up and I take the coller off and watch them eat. Then I'll put it back on and then I go do stuff I need to get down. Then I'll go back to the boys and let thm eat with out the coller on. I repete this process like 6 times before I go to bed. When the boys aren't eating then they go back to there pouch and relax with the coller on and they haven't tried taking it off at all.

Anyways just wanted to let everyone know they are finally fixed!! Thank gosh!

I went through one Joey that was rejected and passed away, and one Joey that is amazing and healthy as can be! :)

Glad their doing so well! How long does it take to heal?

If they are not going after the surgical site, other than just grooming/cleaning the area, they do not need to be kept in the e-collars. You can also carry them in a bonding pouch while they sleep with out the collars to be able to keep an eye on them.

None of my boys wore an e-collar after their neuter.

None of mine did either.

I brought my boy home from the vet (wouldn't let him spend the night - I didn't like the idea)... and put him right in with the rest. He was great, as if nothing ever happened. Well, accept for the fact that he STILL don't want to come out of the cage. lol

Often when gliders come round from an anaesthetic they can have a very strong urge to chew, it's recommended ya take some treats or fruit for them for when they wake up, sometimes they can go for the wound and unpick stitches, that's why an e-colar is used. Does them no harm tho, better safe than have them pick open wounds.

Some times they don't even realise their is anything to pick but if they do then they will keep going back to it. Also, I wouldn't have split up the boys and the girls, there really isn't any need unless the girls groom the boys a lot and would risk upsetting the wounds. Most people just put them all back together straight away. They normally do fine.

Helen88uk- That is exactly why I left the collar on. Plus the last few days I haven't been able to get home until after they wake up cause of work. I've also learned that my gliders are over groomers. I didn't wanna take the chances of putting the boys with the girls until after a few days.

Anyways super happy they are finally done and doing very well.
