This poor cat has been running around with a collar tearing into her skin for about 3 years, according to the home owner.The cat lived under the trailer next door and even had a litter of kittens.The lady had trapped this cat a year ago but the cat escaped when they tried to transfer it into a Humane Society trap. Now she needs a home!!

Scott, are you sure they won't put her down? She's not owned by anyone around there?

Yes I am sure this cat wont be put down,not by us anyhow. The lady feeds the stray cats around her house and she said this cat has been hanging around for about 3 years.

This is so heartbreaking! I hate people that are cruel to animals!

I feel if she feeds these cats, they are hers. They consider themselves hers. If she doesn't want them, she needs to not feed them.

In Connecticut we have a law, you feed it- its yours. SO here the lady would be responsible for the care and maintenance of all the cats that she is feeding.

It is one law that actually makes sense. This means that they can not say- its not mine I just feed it....

it doesnt matter, catman and the vet could have turned her down but he went out there to help an animal in need. its not like the lady thinks its not her responsibility to take care of the cat she had tried to capture it before. this is when she needed someone who knows what they are doing and the cat is injured. she seems to really care about the cat, she was almost crying : (
thats a very pretty cat, i hope it finds a good home soon. keep us updated if you can.
my grandma and uncle have 2 kittens that they rescued from the woods. some people dumped them there. they are very pretty and sweet. how can people just do that to them : (
its nice to hear about something positive happening to an animal.

would you rather have all the strays starve? I believe she is dong what she can to help out. even clinic vet bills are costly.

Yep, I honestly don't care who fed this cat or when they fed it,the cat was seriously suffering and for a long time.
People feed the birds,squirrels,ducks,geese,stray cats,deer,raccoons,foxes...hell there is a soup kitchen just down the road where people feed other people, not to mention all the kids that get free meals at our school.

If you "feed it-its yours" sounds stupid! How about if you allow it to mate, breed or you buy it, it's yours?

Shadow, Catman was the one who caught the cat not a vet. And Scott, you know as well as I do that if you feed an animal, it will keep coming back and eventually think it belongs to you. Look how it just nonchalantly walked into her house looking for food.

It doesn't sound like she doesn't want them. It sounds like she is unable to afford the vet bills such an injury will inevitably require to heal properly. Chances are someone moved and left their cat behind or dumped it and she has been feeding them. She has tried to catch the cat before to get it help, but the cat escaped.

I do hope that if she is feeding them, that she is getting them all at least spayed/neutered, but it does sound like she is caring for them at least by providing food but can not pay financially for an injury caused by a prior owners negligence.

to me it just sounds more like she just couldnt catch the cat to help it. she is an old lady and not as quick as catman is. who knows maybe she offered to help pay or asked if there was anything else she could do, all we know is what we see in the video.

catman is probably bringing the cat to the same vet that he brings all the other injured animals to. so the vet is probably used to him bringing injured animals in. catman captures the animals the vet fixes the animal.

catman- did she tell you how many other strays she feeds? will you be going back to maybe help get them all fixed so at least they dont breed and make the problem worse.

I'm sure if she were to have taken the cat in, she probably would have faced chargs of animal cruelty as these things do not happen over night.

This lady cant even afford the trailer she lives in. Her son is the one that called me to catch this cat, he also helps her pay her rent. There are at least 2 other stray cats that hang around her place. Our humane society has a feral cat spay and neuter program BUT they release the cats back into the wild. There is no way I'm going to allow this domestic cat/any domestic animal to be released back out in the wild after I spend my time and money catching it. It's a lot harder to catch the same animal twice!

Dr.Germeroth treats lost of stray pets and tons of wildlife. I have been bring her animals for 12-13 years,I even drop them off at her house.

The cat is in isolation in my garage until tomorrow when she gets a check-up and spayed. Then it will come back to my house :(, I don't need any more animals.All the shelters are full(they are always full) and at the Humane Society there is a 50/50 chance of it being euthanized.

Lisa this cat was stuck in that collar for 3 years,according to this lady,it surly didn't happen over night. I edited out the waiting part of the video, the cat was never in her house and was very hesitant to enter. You are right about feeding the animals and they will come! A lot of the bird, squirrel and fox calls we get come from people that feed the birds and squirrels. A sick or injured animal will almost always take advantage of a free meal.A lot of the people that feed the animals seem lonely and enjoy the company of the outside animals. I know you shouldn't feed the animals and I tell the people that, not much I can do about it really.

Why? This woman did not own the cat in a collar that was too small and release it outside to fend for itself. This woman kept it fed(probably the only thing keeping it alive) and tried to catch it to get it medical attention and the cat became trap-smart after the first failed attempt and, even if she called animal control to get it help, they would have offered the same traps the cat refuses to enter. Very few animal controls are going to have the patience/means of Catman to lure the cat indoors and catch it in that manner.

The person who should face animal cruelty charges is the owner who dumped the poor cat in the first place years ago.

Because she knew of the injury for three years and did nothing. That is animal cruelty. Unfortunately, unless the cat is chipped and I'm pretty sure it isn't, the owner won't be found. So, Scott, what will they do with the cat now? Will they try to rehabilitate it?

Lisa, the part that you seem to be missing in all of this is that the cat was abandoned 3 years ago. This woman has TRIED to help the cat but hasn't been able to trap it. You keep saying that she did nothing for 3 years when it has been stated several times that she did try to catch the cat or have it caught and it didn't work. So then what? Stop feeding it and let it starve? I don't understand.

It's not a female!!LOL It is a neutered male. I guess the lady was wrong about HIM having kittens He is also a love bug!! He has around 15 stitches to close up the nasty wound. Because the collar was restricting his movements and didn't allow him to fully stretch out and sharpen his nails , his claws were growing back into the pads of the foot.

OMG, too bad I didn't live closer, I'd take him!!!!

Poor thing. Glad you got him into someone who fixed him right up. You are amazing Catman!
