My friend used to breed chinchillas. They're up there. They're so darn cute when they're babies! Little fluff balls!

They're cute, but you can really only hold them for a certain amount of time because they can overheat :/. Plus they aren't really cuddly. I would want something that I could love on.

Wanted to say - about rats ...

Show your BF some of these... SO COOL! I was supposed to get two baby girl rats from a rescuer, but I realized I just don't have the time for them right now.

Rats are honestly the most loving and smart pets ever. They're like dogs for people who cannot own one. They're even best when received at a young age

Hmmm. If you want a cuddly lizard - Bearded Dragon. They are like scaley puppies.

However, if you want a great pet with fur - can't beat a rat, really.

I personally don't think i could have a pet rat, they just give me the chills, I'm not saying they wouldn't be a good pet but i feel like i would be like your B/F is and be like huh a rat? if someone suggested me having one as a pet. Its funny because i wanted a hedgehog b/c i saw one as a pet on wife swap, so i started researching and then while doing so my boyfriend saw a picture of a suggie on one of the websites and was like what about that? he wasn't being serious...Well a few months later we got our first and now a bit more then a year after our first we have 3 . I was going to suggest a chinchilla though, they seem cuddly and are cute, I've never owned one but i think they are adorable and so so soft. I wonder what the drawbacks are from them & how they are as a pet?

Anywho good luck in your search for a daytime critter :)! Let us know what you decide on.

Thanks...we're all over the place with it! Haha. A lot of it depends on if I can get my 4 gliders in the same cage again so we have more room. The idea of a cat is out there too (the gliders have their own room with a door that closes). We need to crunch numbers and such.

No. Not at all. They balled up so bad I had to pry them apart with my hands...and Maverick made Cas bleed (it wasn't bad, it was just his toe...but still!) So I'm not trying ever again. It's not fair to them.

And yes. I was warned that would probably happen...but other knowledgable people told me to let them work out rank was well, but it obviously has turned into more than boys being boys. Even with Maverick healed, they still hate each other. (That last bit wasn't to you Pretty )

Aw :( sorry to hear that! i wish you could have a big happy colony. Im in the midst of doing intros myself with the new female. The boys both like her so far but i havent tried to introduce her to Mika yet. Idk how Mika will feel about a new lady around but the boys are all for it xD

Rats, rats, rats! My only problem with them is they don't live long enough. My oldest girl is 6 and she isn't going to last much longer. She really is ancient.

My boyfriend used to hate them, until they started cuddling with him on the couch. They are "free range" through the house except for the suggie room and they only get put up when we leave. They sleep in bed with us (and the dogs) and we are trying to teach them to stay off the couch when we are eating. They will all run up the couch and steal something off your plate. They know the sound of paper takeout food bags and will follow you around until you sit down somewhere to eat and then take their share. They really are some of the funniest pets I have ever had.

Yep, that was my problem too khigh!
My girls had so much personality in their little rat bodies. Just the thought of them only living an average of 2 years was quite depressing, since they showed as much affection as my dog. They were always excited to see me come home every day, and I just loved their tiny little kisses full of love. They really ask for nothing in exchange for their love, but they really do love to beg for food
