This isn't some kind of suicide note, so don't go thinking that. (decided to add that after proofreading, lol) For a number of years now I have been dealing with depression and PTSD, and more recently, things that border on schizophrenia. With that being said, I hope and trust that you (the reader) would understand if I described myself, at least in part, as being "Very emotional at times". I have to say, you are a GREAT group of people, and I owe so many of you so much for the things you've done/given/said....anything you've had part in that played a role in bettering the care I gave to my gliders. I don't plan on spending the rest of my days without have some gliders in my life, and I'll always do my best to remember the things I'm taking away from this site. I'm not going to mention names because, quite frankly, none come to mind. What does come to mind though is the number of times I've come across the "behavior" or "issue" I take issue with. Even though I can't quantify the occurrences with a plain old set of digits, I can say without fear or hesitation...it feels like "Every time I turn around". Glider owners are no doubt a passionate breed, but we are not without our faults, myself most Deeeeefinatly included. There really is no "one" to blame...but there seems (to me anyhow) to be this "wolfpack" mentality a lot of times. Someone who just got a glider or who has had numerous gliders for a measurable amount of time says ONE THING out of tune, or when the moment comes along that two and two just don't add up for someone, then the given thread takes on an ugly little life of it's own and snowballs into something that I usually don't even finish reading. One of the perils of the internet I suppose...but one I think that I would be better of without, at least for the time being. I myself made some mistakes, posted them unknowingly and wound up feeling attacked in following comments...but then again, I'm nuts, right? Lol. I want to stress, I'm NOT placing blame, I know it's surely no different on any other forum anywhere else on the planet where people who are passionate about something get together and "talk". I just don't want to keep subjecting myself to it is all, not now anyhow. Until I'm somehow banned, I'll still be a lurker, but will most likely be simply limiting myself to photo threads and not bothering to read any comments. When that happy day comes that I bring Lilly and Kota back home, this'll be the first place I come to if I find myself concerned, needing advice, or simply needing to satisfy some urge to share a photo or story about how wonderful they are. (No updates on them from me lately, but they are doing great btw! I'm so proud of how loving they are to their new slave!) Keep fighting the good fight guys/gals! Peace...I'm out.
karensink Face Hugger 802 Posts Jerrycnh Glider 119 Posts It's easy to see what you mean, man. So far the overwhelming majority of responses I've gotten as a new member here have been very positive and helpful, but there's just this little undercurrent of hubris to it all, a "our way is the only way" kinda feel to it, with a couple of people (especially the people in chat) getting downright nasty about their point of view and somehow thinking that's okay "in the name of the glider". No, it's /not/ common to all internet communities to behave this way. I've been a part of many where people have managed to disagree with one another by having polite, civil discourse without going all PETA on each other. These people definitely have a darker side, and I'm not going to be afraid to call them out on it. I didn't get to know you, but I'll miss you, cause I could have used some help on that. ;) sloane1 Joey 13 Posts I definitely can emphathize. It is a shame when some self proclaimed glider "expert" tries to show how important they are by trying their best to make someone else feel bad. I have fun turning it around on them though. Hypothetically (excuse me I need to clear my throat)... someone on fb tells me I am irresponsible for wanting to breed my gliders meanwhile they are breeding and selling gliders themselves. The problem I have with that is that I hope they are also "responsibly" reporting all income from the sale of their babies to the IRS. See what goes around can come right back around. And not only can you report them to the feds you can report them to the local tax bureau and the state as well...Don't let them beat you down or get to you. Beat them at their own game! BookGoddes Face Hugger 482 Posts I respect your choice in this and I think your brave for sharing your illness. I can see how online boards could complicate things more. Your right, so many here has passion and it comes out in different ways and the colony mentality is something I have seen as well. I know it must be meant in the best ways though. The internet is just a hard way to communicate. Ironic considering so many with depressive conditions turn to it for support. There was a study done showing happy photos from people on Facebook lead views to value their lives less. Meaning it adds to depression. I have not found this to be true personally though. Like you, the photos really add joy to my days! Anyway, wishing you wellness! All the best, Kim Kozi Fuzzy Wuzzy WI, USA 1278 Posts quote: Originally posted by sloane1

Yes, you'd be the one breeding your gliders with no lineage.. Because driving across the border is enough cause to believe they could never possibly be related. The owner asked me to remove you because regardless of ALL our efforts to explain what should be common sense to you you kept ignoring our posts and living in your own little fantasy world.. And of course, once I notified you.. oh well, then you got REALLY nasty. I'm here too sweetie, don't you worry. :D -- Oh, I'm also applying for a USDA license in the next couple month, so yes, everything is recorded, reported and kept track of.. Sorry to burst your bubble though, I'm no mill. I don't even have any joeys available right now, I seldom do, I am a VERY small breeder. -- I also don't breed rescues, like some people. sloane1 Joey 13 Posts HEEEEEEEEEEELLLLOOOOOOOO Noooo worries on my end. You may be keeping track but are you writing the check to the tax man now that is the question...I seriously cannot stand how you talk to people and you are a prime example of why people choose not to read these forums because it causes them to get upset. Not me honey I get even. By the way I am still wondering what Q/A measures are in place to regulate the glider database who manages it? Who invented it? Technically can anyone lie and enter whatever info they want on it??? If it is something managed by a governmental authority I may give it more consideration but if people just type in any ole thing they want without some sort of verification process in place then hey...Not saying that most people would purposely try to deceive but I am sure there would be some considering we are human and that is the nature of the beast. Plain and simple Amber I do not like you and when you post every little detail of your life online night after night (apparently you have nothing better to do) and obviously KOZIGLIDERS is a nice little BUSINESS complete with pretty little website and all I am just going to simply make sure you do the RESPONSIBLE thing and pay the man. Whooppee if you are there too! Bottom line is you know NOTHING about me. Sloane isn't even my real name. LOL You do not know where I live or nothing. I was watching the page on facebook for a while before I took the 2 seconds to make a dummy account just to mess with you. See I gave you one little detail about my gliders that I knew you would not agree with and you took the bait. Like I said before I THINK IT IS AWFUL HOW YOU TALK TO PEOPLE! You are nothing more than a SELF-PROCLAIMED glider expert. So since you HAVE sold gliders in the past (no matter the quanitiy) HOW MUCH OF THAT HAVE YOU GIVEN TO THE TAX MAN MISS RESPONSIBLE HYPOCRITE?
Some photos from our members autotech1011 Super Glider 248 Posts Sorry folks, hitting "Post Reply" wasn't what I meant to do just yet. :P Now, in an effort to disregard the negative posts... I agree with most everything I just read though. I may be mistaken, but I believe there have been a few times when I gave in to temptation and just HAD to add my two cents on the whole issue of the internet and its inherit inability to always convey peoples emotions, important ones like sarcasm, as well as subtle things like tone of voice. A different day brings with it different emotions, as do different moments themselves. In reading through this, I felt a few different things. I was disappointed to see the very thing I chose to avoid, I felt proud to see that efforts were made to "take it in the other room", love for the kind words and well wishes, empathy and sympathy for those feeling the need to defend themselves (or for whatever they felt)...the list goes on and on. I really do appreciate it all, taking the bad with the good. I (myself) believe that my God has a plan for me, and somehow, someway, it ALL serves a purpose. I in no way mean to offend the group or any one person, Trust me, I have more than just a vague understanding of what it feels like to jump into a heard argument or even worse, in fact, it's proven to be an express lane to trouble most times. I've lost jobs, relationships, even a tooth over my inability to simply bite my tounge. Anyhow, I'm getting off track it seems. I have so much to thank you all for; info and help, laughs, and smiles that made my face hurt. I appreciate the understanding and acceptance more than you could possibly imagine. It's nobody's fault that currently I'm dealing with such mood swings, but here lately I've come to realize that my "condition" allowed me to develop some real "fellow man" issues as I try to better myself, or just make myself "better" or more "well". It's not that I'm a fragile person, but my mood or state of mind isn't just easily influenced, it often falls like a house of cards at the sight of something unpleasant...like on of those ASPCA commercials playing "Arms of the Angel". I just can't watch 'em. It doesn't just put a big raincloud over my head, it makes sure to keep it there for the rest of the day...all in less time than it takes to fart in church and turn red. If nothing else, I'm a "Lurker for Life". At least that much is certain. valkyriemome Goofy Gorillatoes USA 3479 Posts Hey - Another thing to (possibly?) keep in mind ... emotions are often fleeting. Just because someone might post something that comes off as rude does not mean that's how they feel about you as a person. I, for one, have a notoriously crappy memory. You (not you, but the "Royal You") might think I hate you because of something I said. Months from now, we'll chat and you'll say "I thought you hated me! Because of that one post about hoof and mouth disease!" and I'd say "What are you talking about?" So - if I've ever been an idiot to you - rest assured, I carry no grudges, because I can't remember! Best to you! As far as mental illness ... It is a Chemical Imbalance. People LOVE to discriminate against 'crazy people' on the forums - but it is the exact same thing as hating someone because they have diabetes! Both are chemical imbalances within the body that can be well-controlled with correct medication. Best to you! Meg, is that you? quote: Originally posted by sloane1
