My freezer leaks and right now we can't replace it so we keep a towel down. Every day I pick up the towel to sweep, well today THIS fell out of the towel and before I could kill it ran under the freezer!

Can someone please tell me what kind it is and/or if there are probably more and how posoinous they are? I have 2 kids that play on their hands and knees all the time esp in the kitchen cuz they can roll their toys around...

TIA

I think it looks like a bark scorpion. I'm not sure what state you live in so not sure if you have bark scorpions.... We have them here and the sting is not that bad. You can use a black light to help you find them because scorpions glow.

Scott, that scorpion is not black. Have you looked here to identify it?

If that's the exact scorpion you have in your house, it is a Chihuahuan slendertailed scorpion (Paruroctonus gracilior- image info you posted). Unless that was someone's pet, you have more,LOTS more(momma, daddy and more babies) . It says that they are not deadly venomous, unless you are allergic to them. You could set some of those sticky traps under the fridge to catch them.

Lisa I didn't say it was black, I said bark, like in tree bark.It doesn't matter what color they are , they all glow under a black light(UV light, ultraviolet light).

I would call the cops and tell them you found this in your home. You hav kids in wanna know if it can de deadly. Most scorpion can be and where yu have little kids playing in or around your home that it is better to be safe then something happen.

the cops wouldnt be able to do anything. they are not trained to track and capture animals for the most part. you would have to call someone who takes care of these things which you may or may not have to pay for. but that would be the best thing to do and they would make sure it doesnt have babies as well.

Thank you! I live in east Tx. Hubby said they were at our old house too (I never knew), our fridge is used-new to us :P. Im going to get a blacklight asap, have him move the fridge, & try to kill it. From other pix it looks like scorpions carry their young on their backs so if it has babies ill get them all. I also wont leave a towel down anymore, hopefully not having that suply of water (cuz it gets soaked into the towel) will help... Thank you! I live in TXX.
