This picture was taken today in Ohio (Mid West).

We are in a FaceBook debate trying to determine what type of bird it is so naturally I thought of consulting the experts.

Who Am I?

That there is a mockingbird. A pretty one at that.

I agree. We have them in abundance in Florida. They love to sing, especially early in the morning on my days off

Thanks, all of the guides I have show the mockingbird to be much lighter in color. This coloring was closer to the dark eyed junco, except they don't have the dark beak and feet.

And I thought mockingbird was just weird song

Juncos have a shorter beak. this is a mocking bird. we have a pair around our house.

I've been seeing a lot of these in my area lately too! I guess mockingbirds have decided to take Ohio by storm.

No Doug, I think they are taking over the US because I swear there are usually at least 15 in my backyard at any given moment.

I have a whole bunch that nest in the tree outside my house. The people across the street have a rooster..who crows EVERY morning beginning at 4:30am. The really funny part is...the mockingbirds copy him LOL. Would be a lot cuter if it wasn't so darn early though!

I agree - mockingbird. We have tons of those where i live

We have these around our house in Ga too! When they land they make their tails go up and down lol it makes me giggle :)

We have a TON of these in GA and you know what....they are so mean to my cat. My cat that just sunbathes on the deck no less (he is not an outdoor cat). They swoop down and try to peck him! And...he ain't never hurt nobody!

So, pretty. But mean stinkers!

Yep, They usually do this when they have a nest or young nearby. It is really quite funny to watch. I watched one dive-bomb a buzzard eating a rabbit last week.

If that is a mockingbird..than I do have some by my house..BUT they don't make any unusual sounds. Which I'm thankful of..my friend said while on base in Louisiana once the mockingbirds were annoying. Making such crazy noises. Gun shots, chain saws, and a few others.
