Kelly Thompson banned by Eric    NC, USA 417 Posts Like i said maybe i was nastier then needed be, but i got on read this thread, commented that i hoped everyone was okay ect. ect. then went to look at the pics and saw that. Now with there being many updates on here already even after they evacuated it would of taken one more sentence to say that, and maybe gain some constructive ideas from everyone here on how to get them out. Although i still do not understand how someone could just leave them but have time to get one of their pets. With their being so many links to this and that no i didn't go first to see more pictures just as I'm sure many did not. If someone has something to say then they post it here not on their Facebook and then link it off. I understand you wanting to stick up for a friend that is in a time of despair, but if YOU take a step back and look from my perspective maybe you could possibly see a TINY bit of where my surprise, and anger came from. My already upset state was not helped when the first thing Kyro said was your an idiot and wrong well i wasn't wrong she did leave them. I mean really... Its not what she called me i don't care what anyone has to call me its the fact she said i was wrong like she didn't leave them or something, why not say yes i did i feel awful about it but had to. I can see where i came off mean and rude now that I've calmed down a bit but it wasn't only me that went about this the wrong way. @ Sierr...- you don't have to say it again i read it myself, okay i get it she didn't know, whatever. Well, last time I checked, you were hoping that her house burned down and saying that you wouldn't feel sorry for her. That's heartless. I wasn't calling you immature because you're stating opinions. I'm calling your immature because you stated your opinions in an IMMATURE way. What you said to Kylah was an immature thing to say, and your going on and on about it like some hippie cry baby. In a time like that, I would put my own children's needs before the needs of my pets, even if it did mean leaving them behind. I think any glider owner with kids would say the same. Um, I know kylah exactly as much as I know you: a name on a web page. Friendship is definitely not a variable in my case. I just know that I'm not privy to a screen name's detailed situation and, therefore refuse to be judgmental. There's people that swear I'm a bad mom because I ride a motorcycle. Kelly, I think your anger/hurt is justified in that we all should care for our pets to the best of our ability. But we should not presume to know, judge, or second guess other people's actions with minimal information and 2,500 miles from danger. I am going to give the rundown of what happened...because I have established myself as a member of this community and you guys do deserve an explanation. She did not. Let me first say, if I were a deceptive person, I WOULD have said I had all my pets with me. It would have been easier. However, one thing I am not is a liar and have nothing to hide. At the point where we decided to start actually packing the car up last night, we were NOT under pre-evacuation. They had even dropped the voluntary evacuation for my neighborhood! Yes, I wanted to leave because of the smoke on my own accord. My husband didn't even want to leave yet and I made him start packing up for our and our pets' health. Then, we got the notification and were told we had less than an hour to evacuate. We had lost cell phone service, probably because everyone was trying to communicate with family and friends. They evacuated 7,000 of us at the same time from the same area. My 17 yr old daughter was not with us. I couldn't get her on her cell from my landline and she had no idea this was going on. She had left for Denver 2 hours earlier and there was barely anything going on near our house. Check my photos. I put times and dates on them. The situation changed dramatically within 1/2 hour. Anyway, I spent almost all of that time trying to get her on a landline as well. Naturally, my family (3 brothers, 2 sisters, mom, grandma, my husband's brother and then parents) freaked out that they couldn't get us on our cells and would not stop calling the house while I was trying to find my daughter so she would know where to find us and to not take the Interstate home since they were closing it. I quickly told each one I was fine, I'd call back later and hung up. It was chaos. I FINALLY tracked her down, explained the best I could while trying to keep her calm and literally, by then, I had no choice but to walk out the door. My husband had loaded the car while I was dealing with everyone else. He had filled 2 large bowls of cat food, 2 large dog bowls of water for my 17 year old cat who means the world to me. She's been with me forever, my daughter grew up with her and she IS a part of the family. The gliders have 2 large water bottles, dehydrated fruits and veggies and a large bowl of the dry food from Suncoast. (kept on hand for emergencies). I immediately got upset and he said, "they'll let us back tomorrow when the smoke clears". We left the A/C on and all ceiling fans (6 to be exact, including the glider room). I AGREED. I thought we'd be back today. As we were getting on the highway (directed by PD), we saw fire break out. They would not let us turn around. We went to my brother's, where he dropped off myself and our 13 year old son, waited until he thought the traffic would be better and HE THEN WENT BACK for them because I was crying and pleading. CSPD refused to let him go grab them. That is what happened. I tried getting a hold of multiple places today to see if there was some sort of team appointed to rescue pets from evacuated areas. Some people were never even allowed back after they left for work that morning. I know there are more pets to be rescued there. I hit dead ends so we went back ourselves again tonight, trying to reason that the fires were very calm and they refused. So, here we are and there it all is. It was too much to sit and explain repeatedly to people so I CHOSE the condensed version on Facebook, where my friends and family would know. I think I gave the full version and if I left anything out, I'm sure someone will be happy to question or correct me. You think you know what to do and then your family is separated, your cell phones drop, your family is too large, cares too much and time runs out.

Kylah, as i said above maybe i was nastier than needed to be, and i still feel that it was wrong to leave them, but as someone said we have to agree to disagree. Its awful that they wouldn't let you back to get them, & you don't owe me that explanation and i never wanted one personally, but i felt you should have told everyone here in an update because reading it from the start it was never even implied that you weren't going to. I apologies for being so rude but i still don't think my actual point and thoughts were wrong or mean, just true. Its sad they wouldn't let you go back, i just can't understand why you left them in the first place and thats my problem. Your daughter was driving and they wouldn't of let her in, she would have been safe but you even talked to her, why not go grab them before getting in the car to go. I will never understand that and it will be a agree to disagree. But if you don't whatever I'm not loosing any sleep over it. I hope your gliders are okay as I've said and i don't hope your house burns down as everyone keeps saying i said but didn't. You may not like me, i don't really care, but obviously something i said must of made you think about it some more, at least to the point you thought you should inform everyone what had happened.
