http://www.sugarglider.com/glidergossip/topic.asp?TOPIC_I... in my thread just rescued an easter duckling i brought up the injured gosling that is in our pond. quote: right now im watching a gosling with a hurt foot and giving it food. its parent is still around. the foot should get better on its own its happen to my ducks before, its the stupid snapping turtles >.<
quote: im now looking for someone to come rescue the gosling. i have emailed 2 people so far. i got a closer look at it today and i can see that its very badly broken and swollen. but i dont have a good feeling about being able to get help. there is probably some reason they cant help it or tell us to just to do it ourselves or something like they did with the fox. but there is no way i can catch it on my own since its in the pond.
got a call from one of the rescues but they dont have any volunteers that can come out to pick it up but they found that they had one volunteer in my area but they are inactive so just waiting to see if they can get in touch with them. we are not able to make the drive to the rescue since the car is acting weird and dad has the good car but is gone all day(comes home at 8 or 10pm). But i just put an ad out on crigslist to see if i could find anyone who could drive it there. catching it wont be a problem anymore. i been feeding it so it comes over when i feed the ducks. if anything at least i know its not suffering on an empty stomach. not to sure what ill do if this doesnt work out. the other rescue only does mammals and sent me to the rescue i cant get to.
please keep the poor gosling in your thoughts. i may hate geese with a passion but i cant stand seeing one injured nor would i ever hurt one. maybe later ill get pictures of it.

Is it broken or does it have fishing line embedded in its leg?

still no response from the rescue or the CL ad. : ( not sure how well you can tell the size from the picture but its a pretty big snapping turtle and there was another one in the water. we think its what broke the gosling's leg. everyone once in a while we will see a duck limping but they get better after a few days its never anything major like this.

Shadow, thats a red-eared slider or a painted turtle, I think a painted turtle(no red ear), that shell is was to smooth to be a snapping turtle. Turtles(both snappers and painted) have a nasty sharp bite and usually keep what ever they bite . If the ducks leg is just broken and doesn't have a big piece missing, I doubt a turtle did it.
Here is a list of wildlife rehabbers by state. Some times you have to call a few before you get any action.

sorry just seen this. well im hoping i can talk my dad into bringing it to the rescue this weekend. ill see if i can get a picture tomorrow but it depends on if it gets out of the water and how much of a pain the 2 family of geese and their goslings are being. thanks for the links ill try them. the gosling is still doing pretty well besides having the broken leg. but have not seen it get out of the water lately so not sure.
