Last night was night #2 for Oberon being home. We've kinda been letting him just get used to being in our home, going about our usual routine. His cage is right behind my computer chair/desk, TV on the opposite side of the room, so obviously he's not going to get any break from hearing us all the time. We figured it'd help him get used to our voices anyway. Anyway, he spent a lot more time out and about in his cage last night than the first night, so I was pretty pleased with that by the time we went to bed.

Fast forward to 2am. I wake up to little barks, listen for a minute or two, and then decide once my husband starts tossing around in bed to go out and pay little Oberon a visit. I find him sitting on one of his rope perches, still barking.

"Hey," I said by way of greeting. He stopped, looked me over, and shuffled over to his sleep pouch, scaled it, and came up eye-level. "What's all this about, little guy? You're waking up all the sleepy people! It's past our bedtime!" He stared at me for a few seconds, cocked his head to the side, and scooted back down to his perch. "No more barks, okay? Sleepy-time for the people."

And after I bid him goodnight, he didn't utter a single peep the rest of the night.

Maybe he was seeing how alone he was :)

One of my singles does the same thing, I come out and say hi and offer him a treat if he seems interested, and then no more barking.
