I have had to take one of my babies to the vet, they have said that she has phenoma and they had to keep her to give antibiotics and oxygen, I née to know if there is anything I need to do when I bring her home except keep giving her antibiotics and watch her, this is my first sick one and I am a total mess. Anyone that can give me some advice I thank you so much from the bottom of my heart

What exactly did the vet say was wrong with her? You said "phenoma" - did you mean Pneumonia - a lung infection?

It takes a few days on antibiotics before you see improvement in most infections including pneumonia.

Your vet will give you specific instructions when you bring her home about the medications to be given. Continue the medications as long as your vet directs you to, even if your glider appears well. Not completing a full course of antibiotics can result in a rebound of the infection that may not respond as well to the antibiotics a second time. You should be able to feed her as usual when she comes home, but I would offer lots of very juicy fruits like watermelon or cantaloupe to help keep her well hydrated.

Well at first he wanted to say uti but he would do an X-ray and know for sure, when he took the X-ray he said that she had fluid around one of her lungs and said it was pneumonia. Sorry for the misspell earlier. He was saying that when I brought her home I would need to keep her in a separate cage from the others, will that not stress her out even more than she already is? They were keeping her for the day to give her oxygen so that her lungs wouldn't have to work so hard. Do you know if this will effect my other 4babies and what exactly caused her to get this. I feed the bml diet along with the fruits and veggies on the list. Thanks for your response.

Pneumonia is usually a bacterial infection. Ask the vet how long she should be kept separated. Usually after several days on the antibiotics she would no longer be able to spread the germ to others. At most, I expect she would only be separated until she completes the antibiotic which is usually 7 to 10 days. If it were me, I would let her go back with the colony after about 4 days if she was back to her normal self and eating well - but go with your vet's instructions.

It should not affect your other gliders but if you do see them acting differently a vet check would not hurt. Infections like pneumonia are usually from a bacteria that most gliders will normally fight off and not become ill. Your girl may have had a lower resistance to it so the bacteria was able to actually cause an infection.

Their diet is fine.

Candy has given you some good advice.... but def listen to your vet, it appears they know what they are doing :)

IMO vets always say to house separately with everything, it's seems to be more of CYA thing on their part.
