My experience with animals has been that they pick their favorites not the other way around
You could try to do what you are posing but really there is no reason why they shouldn't bond well to both of you and then you just carry the one you want around with you. They would be fine in individual pouches with you each for several hours a day, but you should let them sleep together, uninterrupted (in their cage), for at least 6 hours per day.
Do you two live together? They will need to share a cage at one of your homes if not.
I hate to mention the unthinkable, but have you considered who would get both gliders in case you two break up? It would be a cruel thing to break up a bonded pair, so one or the other of you would need to take them both or you should consider rehoming them. Not saying this will happen, but you never know!
